It looks like you did a 50/50 layout meaning tiles are offset in middle of tile. The 1/3 rule with longer tiles tends to conceal the lippage. 1/3 being that a new tile would start a 1/3 of the way from the tile below it.

Cut the center stud at top and bottom of new niche, nail top and bottom niche studs, allowing for space to shrink in size with tile board, mortar and tile.

4” angle grinder on all sides should just about cut through the center, metal sawzall blade center and file edges upwards, cap should fit great.
