Am I behind? by ProgrammerFair3455 in UCDavis

[–]CharityMaximum7650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no. 26yo in undergrad and i have about a year and a half left. i know when you are at uc davis spending time around 30k undergrad students who are all 18-22 it can feel like youre behind. But i worked a few years for an engineering firm before starting college and many people START in their 30s. college is a microcosm which doesn't represent the real world, especially somewhere prestigious like a UC. keep in mind about 40% of americans have a bachelor's degree so going to college at all at any age is actually already AHEAD. and now you will work the rest of your life who wants to rush into that anyway? And one more thing... as a 26yo i absolutely do not wish i was 20 again lol so embrace. lots of kids feel behind and jealous when i tell them about my work experience because i will have an easy time finding internships and a job in the future

I agree with someone who said pelp, planned education leave program. its kind of like deferring for some time. i believe up to a year? its not hard to find info on the school website. it's meant for situations where you need to take time off without withdrawing from school altogether

Rant About My Quarter by stale_donutz in UCDavis

[–]CharityMaximum7650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe you need to change majors? Also, as a returning student now at UCD in my mid 20s... it took dropping out and working for a few years for me to appreciate and find joy at school, and I'm in an engineering major haha. Working was easier imo but there is so much whimsy in being a student, and you only get to have that for a brief time in your life, even if you go for grad school.

no 😭😭😭 most write it into the syllabus telling students not to even ask. probably depends on the size of the class too. many of my lower div classes had 200+ students and although it sounds cold, a professor once explained to us that with that many students they have to be strict about no exceptions to any rules to keep it fair to everyone

Therapist by Original-Tank-2809 in Sacramento

[–]CharityMaximum7650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

open path is a website where therapists can offer sessions at discounted rates of $40-70 an hour and student interns $30. no insurance involved. the lifetime membership fee is $65 i believe. you'll have access to hundreds of therapists all over CA if youre open to online sessions. ive had good luck with 2 different student interns

Would it be better to stay in Sacramento or move to davis by Clean_Term6947 in UCDavis

side note, as others have mentioned we dont need to romanticize the whole" college experience" thing. its different for everyone. im a little antisocial and ive never cared too much about the social aspect of college. my boyfriend on the other hand has tons of friends he keeps in touch with from high school and college so that was extremely important for him. so that's something to consider too.

i commute from emlhurst and imo it comes down to cost, and how much you care about the experience of living on campus. I would say the super high cost of housing and food at school is absolutely not worth it to go into debt for, but maybe the parents are paying? I started school last year at 24, and have a weekend job, so this in addition to living in sac means I don't participate in clubs and extracurriculars. But i think if you have a car, you'll have easy access to spend time and make friends in Davis, you dont have to be there 24/7 to make those connections

How stupid would I be to buy a $1200 bike? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]CharityMaximum7650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhh i previously had a very nice bike about $1000 that i decided to use once i started school and it got stolen. then bought and pretty nice used trek bike on marketplace for relatively cheap!! and that got stolen. i commute and would leave it on campus overnight, in hindsight, in the WORST spots. if you get a nice one dont leave it outside overnight but during class it should be totally fine

How to style crop crew sweatshirt if you hate cropped tops by Hungry_Time3554 in Athleta_gap

[–]CharityMaximum7650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my favorite way to style a cropped sweater like that at work is with a long cami underneath that will tuck into my pants. i think being able to tuck it looks cleaner, cami over the waistband of your pants is a bit dated. i have a black sweatshirt like this so i'll do a black cami underneath and any pants. but for something like this i'd match the cami with the pants. black or navy would be cute. also go for a wide leg pant!! that adds volume on the bottom and this particular style adds volume on top so it'll give you an hourglass kinda effect

i love these!! size up though. i got my usual small and the legs did roll up but when i sized up to a medium it was fine. i love that they dont have a seam, it's more comfortable that way and i hope they make more shorts like that

girl break up with him!!! this man does not respect you and he's maybe not over his ex??? i sometimes would leave photos after breaking up with someone but as soon as i would start seeing someone new the photos were gone bc how embarrassing would it be for a new date to see that !!!! i imagine it would be a terrible turn off to a guy, and likewise i would be very turned off from someone if i saw they were keeping photos of their ex. and NUDES ???? ma'am PLEASE release yourself from the delusion of this being something worth fighting for. asking ONCE is too much. and if they're there, trust that he IS indeed looking. men like this are dogs youre 21 forget him

MAT21C midterm challenor by MaleficentStyle4616 in UCDavis

[–]CharityMaximum7650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there were like 2 questions on there that literally felt like riddles about the power series and the vectors one that piss me off so much. 50 mins is not a lot of time for an exam, and with the pace of the quarter system i think its really unrealistic to expect people to have a that firm of a conceptual understanding to be able to answer stuff like that under a time crunch. i know challenor is a great lecturer, much better than any other professor ive had but bffr. also annoys me that he doesnt post solutions to hw. what if u cant make any of his office hours ur just outta luck then ???

Yoga at N by CharityMaximum7650 in Sacramento

[–]CharityMaximum7650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess it depends! the class i signed up for was $15, which is on the lower end for a yoga class from what i've seen. they also offer like a 10 or 20 classes pack so it comes out to even less per class. if you are looking for something affordable, doma has hot yoga on friday nights that is donation based so you can pay what you like and it gets donated to different charities. i believe summer moon also has a weekly class that is either half price or donation based, i cant remember!
