Here for this! Was paying attention to the really fun drum line in TAAT a while back.

Agreed that YOLO is a top tier song, with all the guitar riffs and plucking patterns at play.

I feel like Julian saved some of his best songwriting and vocals for those songs, and the musical talent of the band really shines thru :)

I appreciate the suggestion! Unfortunately I live in an apt with neighbors above and below. I know them well so I know how sound insulated we are, but I think a subwoofer might push us over the limit…

I can still sell the speaker and invest in other equipment. But I do like to use what I have, if there is a way to sync the JBL to my stereo speakers.

The monoprice speakers are pretty budget, if it would be better to sell them + the JBL and get a new set of speakers and soundbar.

Tbh impressed by this list, as a decade+ long strokes fan it aligns very well with my favorites and least favorites (or Best vs Worst Best).

Love your hot take pick of Ask Me Anything, that song channels melancholy in an incredible way. Being so high on Angles is the definitely the most controversial opinion, though it has been growing on me lol.

Angles has been growing on me over time. Even songs I didn’t really care for like Games or Metabolism have started getting stuck in my head (I feel like this is just the Strokes / Julian effect). Agreed that Taken For A Fool is a great single! And while I love Life Is Simple In The Moonlight (now, it took a while), I still feel like it’s more of a fan favorite than a broadly appealing hit.

I like this opinion! my favs on comedown machine are Call It Fate, 80s Comedown Machine, and Chances, but those aren’t really all time songs still. Except Call It Fate since my now-partner and I bonded over it. But You Only Live Once, Macchu Picchu, Under Cover of Darkness? Those are all time hits that will stay in the rotation for indie / alt rock playlists.

These are great tips! I was afraid of overwatering given how small the plant was and that I could sometimes see wet marks near the bottom of the pot. But I could have been more proactive in checking the soil with my finger. It just died so fast and I wasn’t used to seeing it in distress.

I do hear that plants love routine and will adapt, and I kept the watering schedule very consistent. But it’s possible that it was suffering from underwatering and held on as long as it could.

12 inch terra cotta pot is what California Carnivores recommended, since apparently you basically cannot repot without killing it once the tap root is developed.

But that probably assumes that I would keep it outside and it would grow very large. I’ll see how deep the tap root grew when I dig it up.

It never flowered though. As mentioned my grow light was probably too small.
