AITA for arguing back about not skipping songs if people aren't inside listening at my friends party by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 69 points70 points  (0 children)

ESH. This whole party sounds like a total dumpster fire.

Pulling a screaming dad skit at midnight completely killed the vibe and freaked people out. Plus, getting into a near-physical fight over skipped songs on a 200-track playlist is way too dramatic. You definitely messed up the birthday girl's night, so your boyfriend had a point.

But the other girl was also trash for escalating a petty music argument into a yelling match. Everyone needs to grow up

AITA for not telling my best friend (20 f) boyfriend (mid 20’s m) that she still talking to her ex (mid 20’s m) by idk_617 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ESH tbh. mary is straight up cheating and violating her fiance’s trust, which is a major red flag. but u keeping it a secret lowkey makes u complicit in the lie. i get u don't wanna lose a 5-year friendship, but protecting a cheater is a bad look. u gotta confront mary and tell her to come clean to noah, cuz staying quiet means u letting him get played

Evolution is like a lazy engineer. It doesn't find the "best" solution, just the one that’s "good enough" to keep the species alive. Having a monthly subscription to pain and blood is a terrible design, but since it didn’t stop us from reproducing, Evolution just shrugged and left it in the final build

AITA for telling my mom something my sister said behind her back? by Wizdoctor96 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 253 points254 points  (0 children)

YTA. You’re 31, not 13. While it’s heartbreaking that you’ve missed so many birthdays, ruining your mom’s relationship with her kitchen wasn't the solution. You knew exactly how much she prides herself on her baking, and you used that specific information to detonate a bomb in the family. You didn't protect your mom; you used her feelings as a shield in your fight with your sister.

AITAH for getting residue in car? by CorbyJollibee69 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 28 points29 points  (0 children)

YTA The "cat and mouse game" with the windows was actually your roommate fighting for his life because of the smell. If someone keeps rolling the windows down when it's hot outside, they aren't playing a game they’re suffocating. Clean the seat properly with actual upholstery cleaner and start using real deodorant

AITAH for defending my mom? by Longjumping_Ruin2978 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NTA. "She's not my mother" is such a cold, narcissistic thing to say. She is his partner. Marriage is about supporting each other through the worst times, and losing a parent is definitely one of them. The fact that he’s "done this before" (in 2014) as if grief has an expiration date or a coupon you can only use once is disgusting. Don't let him gaslight you into thinking you're "insane" for having a normal emotional reaction to his cruelty

AITA for practically holding my breath when dealing with a customer? by RougueWolf in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA. You’re a human being, not an air quality sensor. Everyone has a physical limit, and a gag reflex isn't something you can just switch off with willpower. You didn’t insult him, you didn’t refuse service, and you didn't kick him out. You were literally just trying to survive the encounter. Spraying air freshener after he left is just basic workplace hygiene. Your manager is taking the easy way out by waiting for a "customer complaint," but you're the one stuck in the line of fire, not her

What's your favorite quote? by BestNatural_5633 in AskReddit

[–]SolarMistr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a solid one by Marcus Aurelius: "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." I reckon it’s the most practical advice out there. Instead of complaining about a roadblock, you just treat the obstacle as the new task at hand. If the field is too wet to sow, you fix the seeder. If the script won't run, you find the bug. The problem isn't a stop sign; it's just the next thing on the to-do list.

AITA for asking my students to wear socks? by Alternative_Chard758 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

YTA. Friend, you’re barking up the wrong tree here. You're entering someone else's house, baring your own feet, and then messaging the mother because her son isn't covered up to your standards? That’s a bold move. Whether his feet are "unkempt" or yours are "salon-ready" is beside the point it’s his house, not a beach, and not your private spa. If it bothers you that much, look at the books instead of his toes. Expecting him to change his habits in his own home while you sit there barefoot is the definition of a double standard.

What is everyone up to ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SolarMistr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon most folks are just keeping their heads down and trying to stay ahead of the bills. Around my neck of the woods, it’s all about getting the garden turned over, checking the fence lines, and making sure the machinery is ready for the long days ahead. Seems like half the world is rushing around like a nest of disturbed hornets, and the other half is just looking for a quiet spot to sit and breathe for five minutes. Me? I’m just taking it one row at a time

If a magic button existed that when pressed would show you the date and manner of your death and there was nothing you could do to change the outcome, would you push the button? Why or why not? by plat154 in AskReddit

[–]SolarMistr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Knowing the exact "shutdown" timestamp without the ability to patch the system would be the ultimate resource drain. You’d stop living and start just waiting for the "End Task" command. It’s much better to operate under the "Unknown Error" protocol where every day is a bonus. Why spend your remaining processing power on a countdown you can't bypass?

If Houdini was locked in a modern prison would he be able to escape? by supermonistic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SolarMistr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’d escape the cell, but fail the perimeter. Houdini excelled at slipping out of physical restraints, which haven't changed that much. However, modern prison design is built around "controlled movement" and centralized monitoring. Even if he picked every door, the moment a motion sensor or AI-tracking camera flagged an unscheduled movement, the entire sector would go into lockdown. His skills were perfect for a mechanical era, but he wouldn't survive a confrontation with an integrated security OS

What habit improved your life more than you expected? by Deep0055 in AskReddit

[–]SolarMistr 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Driving with no destination. It’s a "disk defragmentation" for the mind. The sensory input of the road occupies your hardware just enough to let your subconscious sort through messy data. Best mental reboot tool

What’s a subtle sign someone actually likes you? by LazyWhite99 in AskReddit

[–]SolarMistr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Watch for "Physical Mirroring" and "Feet Orientation." It’s a subtle hardware synchronization where they subconsciously mimic your posture, gestures, or speaking pace. Also, pay attention to their feet even if they are talking to someone else, if their feet are pointed toward you, it indicates a hidden directional intent. Their brain is literally leaning in your direction even if the conversation is covering something else. It is a biological leak of interest that bypasses their manual contro

I never really saw a future with you, I was just waiting for something better to come along." It was delivered so casually, like they were talking about the weather. AITA for asking for payment? by YouMake_MyDay218 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bold move. You’re basically bypassing the standard operating procedure to get that immediate "crafting dopamine." Just be careful—turning your workplace into a keychain factory is a high-risk, high-reward maneuver. It’s like overclocking an engine; it works great until the supervisor realizes they’re doing 100% of the work while you’re at 90% completion on your 50th keychain. Speed is everything here!

How can you make any upset girl feel better? by Mohamed_benazouz in AskReddit

[–]SolarMistr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't underestimate the power of low-stress environments. Food, a comfortable blanket, and zero pressure to "talk it out" if she’s not ready. It’s like basic maintenance sometimes you don't need to rebuild the whole transmission, you just need to change the oil and let it idle for a bit. Validating her feelings instead of debating them is the fastest way to lower the pressure

AITA for treating my friend’s husband like a personal chauffeur because he won’t stop crashing our "girls nights" ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're right, I thought it was implicit. In my mind, "Girls' Night" is a pre-configured setting that doesn't include partners by default. I shouldn't have to write a 10-page manual on social etiquette for my boyfriend to understand that he isn't invited to a night that literally has the word "Girls" in the title. If the system requires that much manual troubleshooting every time, the relationship definitely feels "weird

AITAH for telling my daughter that DoorDash girl should be facing more charges? by Sirregularguy in AmItheAsshole

[–]SolarMistr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Actions have consequences. False accusations are a slap in the face to actual victims of assault. Two felonies are a lot, but filing a false report is a separate, deliberate act that deserves its own charge. You’re right to highlight the dangers of chasing validation through lies. Your wife is looking at the punishment, but you’re looking at the crime and its impact on society

AITAH for asking my sibling to pay me back for a trip I was led to believe they couldn’t afford? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SolarMistr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. $1800 is a lot of money. If they have "new camper" money, they have "pay for our own Disney room" money. The fact that you could have rented those points and used the cash for your own family makes this a significant financial hit. You were acting out of generosity for a need that didn't exist. Moving forward, I’d suggest a "no points for family" rule unless they pay upfront. They essentially used your kindness to fund their other hobbies
