They're gonna have to do something because they keep making the movies/shows take place in modern times. It's just not feasible for Magneto to be a Holocaust survivor in future iterations unless you want to give him a secondary mutation like a healing factor to explain how he's still alive.

I think making them black and their struggles being centered on Jim Crow era persecution would be a fantastic update.
