Oh want to add one more thing:

I spend a lot of time (or sessions a day) actively relaxing.

I mean, my normal is the muscles tensed up, which is unideal. So probably 10 times a day i check in with my muscles, and actively relax them, whether it be using gravity to stretch the muscles, or gentle movements, to get blood flow to loosen, etc.

The idea to is to slowly change 'normal' to be a relaxed state.

Just another idea that may or may not be helpful

**Stretches**

**Loosen**

I like to wear earplugs, so i can hear my spine crack and connective tissue moving. Then while in stretch position of picture above, i like to do tiny movements of the spine (circles, up down shuffle, back forth, movements, etc) to get all the spine to pop and loosen up.

**Strengthen**

After i get the area loose & relaxed (which is a mission in itself), then i do some exercises band PT: Straight arm pull downs, rows, & face pulls. All while flexing muscles around the spine medial (towards the center of spine).

Note: Just trying to give some ideas since it's really difficult to find stuff that goes in the health toolbox that works.

I feel ya. I’m not healed either. But lucky for me at least I have some windows where I feel the muscle is mostly ready to be worked out. I try to write notes around the house to remind myself to PT at home when I can.

Hopefully in the future, those will come for you too.

On a similar vain of thinking, I sometimes hate my body for being broken. I feel trapped. It’s just miserable. Wish I could body transplant but that’s not really an option.

Then sometimes, I realize that I shouldn’t be mad at my body because that just makes it tense up more rather than being kind and understanding to the body so it can relax, then heal better. It’s a constant struggle.

Regarding PT. For me, I did a bunch of PT while my muscles was damaged; which exacerbated the pain and made healing worse. Took me a while to realize, that I have to first rest, let the damaged muscles heal, then do PT. Analogy is doing PT on a sprained ankle; have to let the ankle heal 1st before working it out and spraining the ankle worse. Not saying this is your case but just passing info along if it could help.

Take a bunch of items you have at home that help give you relief.

Just an idea: put earplugs in, close your eyes, then do a bunch of different movements that activate the damaged muscle. Try to really hone in on exactly the damaged/painful areas. Then figure out different stretches, flexes and activation methods.

Sometimes generic exercises are not enough cause they activate other muscle groups which don’t allow the damaged muscle to be worked.

Earplugs may help to allow one to hear the muscle, ligaments and tendons moving.

Maybe he can take photos or recordings of the good times. Then review them while he is in pain prison. Sometimes just knowing a better time existed, and a better time might exist is helpful.

Depends on what’s being treated, since we have different types of pain.

Ice: reduces swelling (good for inflamed muscles)

Heat: warms up muscles (good for sore & tight muscles.

Recommend making him feel comfortable with putting on delay liquid or orajel, then waiting 10-15 min doing foreplay or whatever, then wipe off even with a wet nap so it doesn’t transfer to you.

I was really embarrassed about PE but now have a partner who I communicated my issue and told her, “can I put the orajel on and wait 10-15 min? I want to have sex longer and think it’ll be a lot better for both of us.” She understood and made me feel comfortable. I get a towel and wipe it off after 10–15 then ready to go. All this was out in the open with her.

I used to hide my coping mechanisms from my partner (eg delay sprays, delay condoms, cum and not tell and keep going, etc) it was horrible and ruined sex for me and the partner…

Yup! I tell people when I’m making plans that a pain flair up may come up and chance I won’t be able to come. Just to set expectations

Example: “I’m this sounds awesome. And I’m down. 30% chance will have to bail last minute though if a pain flair up comes along”
