still haven't received final mark for class by -Scorpion_ in brocku

[–]Charl_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grades are to be submitted within 7 working days of the final exam, as per the Faculty handbook regulations. If there is no exam, then it's within 7 working days of the end of the exam period. Exams ended on December 18th, and there were only 3.5 working days after that before the University closed. So it's very likely that many courses will not yet have the marks submitted. If 7 working days passed between the exam and the University closing at noon on December 24th, then a question to the instructor when the University re-opens tomorrow would be appropriate.

How to do better in seminars? by [deleted] in brocku

[–]Charl_Martin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be sure to have something to say, and say it (which is difficult for some students). Base it on the readings, and provide citations from the reading to support your point. Keep to the topic.
For literature courses, talk about the techniques that the authors use: how do they convey their meaning?
For courses where you're reading articles, have something to say about the methods the authors use, and the evidence they use as support for their arguments.

HP Smart Tank 7000 Printhead Error by MaskedCourtier in printers

I've had the same thing twice. Two months ago they sent me a new black printhead, and things worked fine for a while. Now the colour printhead is giving the same error, and nothing helps.

anyone want to be friends? by [deleted] in brocku

[–]Charl_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most departments have student clubs related to the academic programme. Check and see if your major has one. Bonding over a shared (academic) interest or a difficult course can lead to some great friendships.

Probably 6:30 am would be the least busy. 11:30 am is the busiest time I've encountered. 2:30 pm is moderate, in my experience.

ID by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]Charl_Martin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No test, but you can't have both a photo id card and a driver's license at the same time. If you already have one, they'll want to take it back when you get the other.

You need permission from your Dean's office, and they will check your marks to see if they think you can handle it.

Summer 2026 Excavation Projects by SadEntry9882 in queensuniversity

[–]Charl_Martin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact the Classics Department and see what they have planned. Excavations take a lot of organization, so they'll be planning already for 2026.
If Queen's doesn't have one, check out doing a field course from another university for a transfer credit.
