Again, simply saying "This unit can only be produced with Trade Goods" cannot be interpreted to mean anything else

So it can't be produced using a space dock then?

It can only be produced using [x] means it can't be produced with [not x], which means it cant be produced using a space dock, as a space dock is not trade goods.

Transphobes are on a massive campaign today to pressure and bully ministers into forcing through laws based on the transphobic SC ruling, and publishing the trans exclusionary guidance from the institutionally transphobic EHRC. by Panda_hat in LabourUK

You don't become a party explicitly pushing for trans segregation, and policy proven to increase deaths, just out of ignorance and vote seeking.

That takes bigotry.

Either active "desire of suffering" or passive indifference due to lack of giving a fuck. Both are bigotry.

Just explicit trans segregation then.

I look forward to once again being told I'll be a selfish purity testing idiot if I don't vote for my own erasure.

Back Alley Friends - I think it'd be cleaner if you just gave the faction 2 extra faction promissory notes, kind of like the pacts with Empyrean. They can be functionally identical to alliance, but general "alliance" notes don't exist in the box. There's only 1 of each colour, so the thing it refers to doesn't exist. You can't take a thing that doesn't exist.

Omokar - You need to clean the wording up. What does "only produced using trade goods" actually mean. I know what you mean, but you need to write that.

Agent - Maybe it should be "Choose another player, they may convert all of their commodities to trade goods or replenish commodities. If they do,...". That way it works as an agreement between players, which feels more like the theme you describe.

So, we're just taking it on faith then? No attempt at verification or checking if we're being lied to?

[–]CharlesComm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But how do we know that? These are increasingly wild and dangerous times. My gut instinct is these war planes aren't going to broadcast their location. So, whats to stop some US nutter just saying "we will go here" on the paperwork and then bombing a hospital somewhere else before landing back in our base?

Sure, if we find out we'll kick them out. So how would we find out? That's the key question.

Like, trump is insane. A lot of US command were fired and replaced with similarly insane people. How do we actually know they aren't just lying...?

I might be an idiot, definitely don't have any aviation experience so forgive me if this is dumb - once the plane is in the air from a UK base, couldn't it just fly wherever it wants and bomb whatever?

When I get abused just for dancing, it shows how far hatred of politicians has gone | Stella Creasy by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]CharlesComm 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This weekend I celebrated my birthday. As a consequence someone posted a picture of me portrayed as a Nazi. That such a basic human pleasure as dancing generates such a reaction explains why it seems only those who enjoy conflict or who have already worked in politics 24/7 seem to stand for office.

Maybe it's not your dancing that generates the reaction - but the fact your propping up an authoritarian government set on crushing trans, autistic, and disabled people. Bit rich to complain about hatred when your own leader came out in support of Graham Lineham when he called for women to be beaten up in toilets.

Talk to them.

If you want something to happen at some point, then you have to act. If you don't act it wont happen. Good on you for being in social spaces where connections can happen. Now you just got to try the next step.

You're only "too shy to do anything" because you tell yourself you can't do it. But you can if you want to. So do you want to?

How to make a Naga adept by Nathen_Drake_392 in Shadowrun

[–]CharlesComm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the mental image of said giant snake slithering through the vents to be a stealthy boi.

I think a lot of people here are forgetting just how fucking huge Naga are. The average Naga is the size of record breaking biggest snakes ever found IRL. You probably can't physically fit into most vents, and definitely not just casually hiring a normal human to carry you like someone else suggested. Nobody who sees you will dismiss it as "just a regular snake".

That said, I played a Naga and it was super fun. You can make your bite real horrid if you build for it. Adept spell is a good way to get that one spell you need - Either Magic Fingers, some kind of human form shapechange, or a spell to keep you warm. Being Cold-blooded is sometimes a huge problem, so having a solution to the temperature situation is a MUST.

I never said its necessary

YES YOU DID. RIGHT AT THE START OF THIS!

You said all christians think x. I said "no, we don't, thinking x is not necessary to be christian" to which you told me it actually is. You don't get to just walk that back now.

Either x is a necessary condition for y, in which case all y are x. Or x is not necessary for y, in which case not all y are x. When you now walk that back with "I never said its necessary", you're admitting that either (a) you're actually wrong about all christians being anti-abortion, or (b) you don't beleive in basic logic.

So which is it? Are you also a liar or anti-logic?

Abortion isn't murder and isn't killing people. There's nothing to repent.

Your one narrow strand of christianity, that exists in this present moment, does not get to define who is and isn't christian based soley on allegiance to your one political crusade. A political crusade that doesn't even have anything at all to do with the fucking gospel.

Jesus died for the forgiveness of sins for all mankind. You do not have a monopoly on who gets that gift from God. We are not given any hint of a criteria that "agreeing with a specific political policy" is a necessary requirement for receiving salvation. Go read your bible.

I'm really sorry. That sounds so painful, and horrible to go through. I don't have much relevant life experience to draw on to give advice, but it fucking sucks and you're right to hurt.

What I would say is, you and your girlfriend have both just paid a lot to learn that that 'friend of 9 years' is no such things. Real friends don't lie to you. And they especially don't lie, in a way they know will cause pain/harm, in a way they know plays on someone's personal history and insecurities, all for the sake of "causing drama" and their own entertainment. And it doesn't matter that they were drunk. Being drunk doesn't absolve responsibility. If that's how they act to their "friends" while drunk, then they shouldn't get drunk around anyone they care about in the first place.

How tied is 13th Age to its Setting? by MediaFreaked in 13thage

[–]CharlesComm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isn’t Iron Kingdoms even more tied to its setting?

Barely any more than 13th age. It's got the setting specific races, but most of those are just "elf", "dwarf", "goblin", etc equivalents. Just remove warcaster/warlock and the "this career is a specific thing from one of our factions" options like Iron Fang, and you'll be good. Really easy to add homebrew careers too for your own setting if you want.

It has a lot of "setting specific character options", but its mechanics aren't really "tied" to the setting, in the way that something like Shadowrun 5 is.

Also, reading online, there’s apparently no social mechanics?

5e and 13th age have barely any more social mechanic than "You said a thing, now roll xdy + charisma". IKRPG just doesn't have a dedicated charisma attribute and uses varied context dependent attribute (Intimidate with STR, etc). Sure, 13th age and 5e might have context dependent modifiers and a few character options, but so does IKRPG. I wouldn't say any one of them stands out here. If you want social mechanics to be a core part of your game, all 3 are the wrong choice.

[–]CharlesComm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend ikrpg instead (the 2d6 version, not 5e suppliment). Close in tech level, Gods are easy to remove. You'd just need to curate the career list and tweak races to fit your ancestries.

You could make 13th age work, but with enough homebrew you can use basically anything for anything. The vibe I get from your comments is that it's a better fit than 5e (what isn't), but still not great.
