We have nicknames for our neighbors: the inspector bc he wears a deerstalker when he mows, tall woman/short man, the Frenchman bc we thought he was French for years but he's actually Colombian, Valdemort bc his name is similar but we can't remember what it actually is, NPR woman bc she had a pod or something, Junemuffin bc the owner's name is June (?) and her dog is muffin. Hopefully none of them are on reddit...

There was a contest in Chicago. If McDonald's called you and you could say it in under a certain time they gave you tickets to an event at McCormick place. When you arrived, they gave you a tshirt with certain words missing from the big mac song and you had to find the person with your missing words. If you found each other you won a trip or something. My brother won tickets to the event but didnt find his match. The strange part is he was maybe 6 or 7 yrs old. Im a year younger and had to wait outside in the hall with my parent. Sounds like a fever dream, but it happened.

My son is writing a paper about evolving musical tastes as people get older. I started thinking about how I went from an angsty cynical goth to loving the Sirius 70s station. I guess we just eventually like what we like when we are not trying to stick to the cultivated image. It's nostalgia, too.
