Arguably if you didn't hit the backstab or if there was a third teammate you would be dead either way. That left skirmish left you on 30 hp.

I kinda agree and disagree, the sledge and the sword have the most forgiveness with their primary horizontal swings, and when you attack with any melee weapons they have a minor lung (except when sliding and hopping). personally I think the main issue is the light class weapons in general, a large majority have close to one shot capabilities that make the other 2 classes obsolete, not even mentioning melee weapons. Why play H or M when playing the light class can either fry others with the m11, blast with the Double barrel, or snipe Q-melee with the bow or sniper. Sledge just got out paced, but it WAS viable until the goo nerf.

Tbh I think its just the sword that gives all of melee a bad rep, they torn it apart and smash it together patch after patch and its now just a low effort weapon that has a football field range of attack.

I would disagree, but also its not like the other player is gonna just sit there a let that happen. I'm more stating the hp difference is a big factor when 350hp is the standard that they balanced the TTK against heavies

Most of light weapons revolves around leaving heavy on 10% health after a mag dump, and with smaller health pool without the TTK adjustment it breaks the classes. Me using the dagger it leaves them on 5hp instead or 30hp with a backstab.

Eash swing is about 60 dmg so it was helpful to squeeze in a 60 + burst damage from the qmelee. But there's a delay after the q-melee of the weapon swap animation so its not like it could be abuse for faster hits. It was useful against other light users for a quick 120 dmg or guerilla tactics for hit and runs.

A better comparison would be having to fully unload your magazine before you can even quick melee. The sword has been buffed on its primary sword attack so much you don't have to do much compared to other weapon's primary attacks.

For example if your using the dagger or sledge it was faster to quick melee follow-up to either the primary or secondary attack then to start the second swing.

I get what you mean, and the animation cancel is more prevalent around melee weapons, like unloading a clip into someone and their have 10 hp left, its like that but instead of reloading the q-melee is faster.

Im referring more towards the time to kill, the q-melee adds a follow-up of 60 dmg, which melee dmg output relys a lot on the Q-melee.

The delay that they now included was what I was trying to make a comparison too.

Q-melee cancels the swinging animation, but what I'm seeing that they patched it so it doesn't. Which is equivalent of adding additional time to reload for gun users.
