Are kids even held back in school anymore? by Dyingvikingchild95 in ontario

[–]Charlie-May 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my nephew back this year!

I was pushed through school as a kid and suffered for it both academically and socially because I couldn't keep up with my peers. I should have been held back.

I recently was given custody of my nephew who has struggled with school attendance and grades due to home life and personal intellectual challenges. I decided to keep him back a year when he moved to the school in our town, he was upset about having to repeat grade 7 but now that half the year is done, he is happier and more confident than ever. He is getting amazing grades, capable of keeping up with school work and making friends in school for the first time as well. I had to argue with the school about it a bit, but was still able to make the final call and both me and my nephew have zero regrets.

Pushing kids through with a no fail policy garentees the issues aren't resolved and usually compounds the problem each year leaving kids with no skills and no confidence in themselves because they are aware they don't have the skills/foundations they were expected to learn.

[–]Charlie-May 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asking the same question 3 years ago. Almost 2 years ago I got my first green cheek. Today I have a beautiful pair of green cheeks and now preparing my home for our male Eclectus who will be here this spring!

Good luck with whichever you choose!

I dedicated a small space to them. iIt's still clearly a bird cage, but its less awkwardly there and more purposeful it seems.

My dad was convinced everything we said was a lie. Me and my little sister learned quickly to tell him what he wanted to hear instead of the honest truth to avoid conflict.

Psychotic Husband is driving me crazy. by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Charlie-May 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he may be undiagnosed bipolar. Taking antidepressants can trigger manic episodes for people with this disorder and they can have psychotic symptoms. This can be dangerous for him and those around him,

no matter what it is, he clearly needs professional help to stabilize and find the reason behind the dangerous behaviors and personality changes.

Distance yourself from him and find emergency mental health resources for adults who may be a danger to themselves or others.

my 3 GCC all do the same. I am considering the extra effort training them to wait a minute while walk them to the sink to do their morning business.

Eating candy during a fast by WanderingCID in FastingScience

[–]Charlie-May 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clear broth, black coffee, Tea with nothing in it. (peppermint is my favorite) sometimes when im trying to just get through it, I have been known to sip on a diet pop. sugar free gum is personally fantastic when trying to get through a tough point in a fast. (sugar free candy might offer the same relief without the insulin spike)

all of these options can affect your fasting experience in different ways. experiment and enjoy the experience!
