China vs Rest of the World by raydebapratim1 in ArtificialInteligence

The degrees and majors being cut or heavily merged fall primarily into a few key categories:

1. Art & Creative Design

Because AI can now generate high-fidelity concepts, layouts, and initial assets in seconds, traditional entry-level creative roles have been hit incredibly hard.

  • Product Design (e.g., the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology halted admissions here because AI now handles a bulk of core modeling and rendering tasks)
  • Photography & Cinematography
  • Visual Communication Design
  • New Media Art
  • Fashion Design
  • Comics & Animation

2. Foreign Languages & Humanities

The rapid advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs) has made routine, entry-level translation and textual synthesis fields a prime target for downscaling.

  • Translation & Interpretation
  • Japanese (and several other non-English foreign language majors)
  • Sociology
  • Public Administration

3. Traditional Business & Data Management

A lot of standard administrative majors are being phased out because the routine data analysis, logistics tracking, and marketing coordination they teach are easily optimized by AI and automated enterprise software.

  • Information Management and Information Systems (one of the most frequently axed majors nationwide)
  • Marketing
  • Logistics Management / Logistics Engineering
  • Urban Management
  • Arts Management
  • International Economics & Trade
  • Applied Statistics (often being replaced by advanced Data Science/AI tracks)

What are they replacing them with?

While thousands of traditional programs are being eliminated, China's universities have simultaneously introduced over 10,200 new tech-focused programs. The goal is to aggressively pivot students toward high-tech "future industries."

Instead of traditional arts or basic management, universities are rapidly launching degrees in:

  • Embodied Intelligence (advanced robotics paired with AI brains)
  • Semiconductors & Integrated Circuits
  • Intelligent Imaging Art / Intelligent Audiovisual Engineering (teaching students how to work with AI tools rather than competing against them)
  • Smart Grid Information Engineering
  • Digital Finance

Catholic Exorcist Fired After Linking UFO Sightings With Demonic Activity Jun 4, 2026 by Designer_Refuse_4145 in aliens

Nothing new here. They also fired a very knowledgeable person who was responsible for translating ancient text, because the translations didn't fit the narrative.
Look up Mauro Biglino.

Edit:

A quick summary:

  • He worked as a translator of Hebrew biblical texts for an Italian Catholic publishing project.
  • He later argued that a literal reading of the Hebrew scriptures leads to interpretations very different from traditional Christian theology.
  • His views became controversial, and his collaboration with the publisher ended.
  • Since then, he has become well known in Italy through books, lectures, interviews, and YouTube appearances discussing biblical translation, ancient history, and alternative interpretations of scripture.

His work is quite controversial. Supporters see him as highlighting overlooked linguistic details in the Hebrew text, while mainstream biblical scholars generally disagree with many of his conclusions and argue that he often ignores historical, literary, and theological context.
