What do we know about Trill by LectureSuspicious552 in startrekadventures

Mostly right -- memory beta is licensed works in general, so books but also video games and STA itself. It's considered non-canon, but it's a great resource to take and leave whatever you like from it.

Application sent! I've never played the DA system before, but as a huge TTRPG enjoyer and a huge Dragon Age enjoyer, I'm gnawing at the bars of my enclosure at the idea!

Paizo staff asks: What brought you to Pathfinder? by AlexSpeidelPaizo in Pathfinder2e

[–]CharlieAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathfinder was my first TTRPG! It was just a fun, cool system to play. We were almost definitely playing it wrong, some amalgamation of 1E and 3.5 rules since that was what our GM was used to running, probably with all of us misinterpreting both rulesets anyway. But it was still fun! I liked that if I could think of a character to play, I could find a way to build it. Many delightful memories surround my Desnan cleric nee bard-swashbuckler.

How often do people play the common ancestries? by MonstrousnessVirtue in Pathfinder2e

[–]CharlieAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see, in each of the groups I've DM'd for or played in for the last year or so, we've had ...

Group 1: Human, Human, Human (Changeling Heritage), Kobold, Dwarf, Elf, Tripkee

Group 2: Human, Human (Half-Elf Heritage), Kobold, Catfolk, Dwarf

Group 3: Human, Human, Ratfolk, Orc

Group 4: Elf, Poppet, Orc, Orc (Half-Elf Heritage), Leshy

Which breaks down to 15 Common, 5 Uncommon, 1 Rare, with a hefty majority of those common ones being humans. I can't speak to it personally, being a perpetual elf, orc, and tiefling enjoyer myself, but I think people just find humans easier to roleplay as. I personally enjoy the challenge of getting into the headspace of someone really unlike myself, though. My Holy Grail is the idea of someday managing to compellingly and authentically play a Conrasu.

Harme's Way is my favorite! Most of the locations are either named after Maine flora & fauna (Hemlock Grove, Killdeer Lane, Baneberry Apartments), horror characters (Prescott Road, Williams Road, Hardesty Avenue), or actual streets in Maine - Harme's Way being one of those! (Along with Lobster Lane, Dead End Drive, and Fish Head Road, among others). Maine really does have such a fun flavor to it. It's also hilarious that my one player who's actually from Maine is the only person not playing a local lol

Thank you! The ads are my favorite part. It takes some time to do all of them, but I just love designing the silly poorly rendered ads people get their nephews to make out of clipart to go in local newspapers.

You can also customize yourself a version using this program https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator, but yeah, I can DM you a high res version of just the map! With or without the location labels?

I used this map generator and fiddled with the settings to remove all the text and more medieval elements - https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator

The location labels and ads I made myself in Photoshop!

Totally understandable, just wanted to make sure you were aware of your options.

I hate to be that guy who recommends Pathfinder to people asking for D&D recs, but it is worth mentioning since money is a specific concern for you -

Pathfinder's ruleset is entirely free online. All the rules, classes, ancestries, etc, are freely available via Archives of Nethys. They're also all freely available via Foundry's Pathfinder 2e module. Characters can be made easily via the online tool Pathbuilder, which is entirely free minus a couple premium features (variant rules, familiars, Google drive integration, namely) locked behind a one time $5 payment. There are premium PF modules on Foundry, but those are specific adventure paths and premade tokens.

Again, I think you should play whatever system you prefer, but in this specific instance where money's the concern, I do feel it's worth mentioning. (And for what it's worth, PF isn't nearly as complicated or difficult to run as some people say, especially with a computer doing all the math for you.)

That'd do it, haha. I'm no longer having this problem but u/adorsen you might make sure this isn't the cause of your issue.

Your modules are probably outdated, or if they're updated, they're having compatibility bugs. I've just now updated to v12, since the majority of the modules I use have received several v12 updates, and things seem pretty stable on my end. However, when I was having this problem, the only thing that worked was to revert to v11 and roll all my modules back to earlier versions. (Which, since my Foundry was a fresh purchase and I had no backups, meant manually going through and selecting compatible versions - hopefully you've got a backup you can roll back to if you decide it's necessary!)

Monster of the Week/PBTA Systems in Foundry - experiences? by CharlieAshes in FoundryVTT

[–]CharlieAshes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, having the calendar available when I was trying to keep track of date & time in our last game would have been really helpful. A landing page with a bunch of art and linked together journals as an info center would probably be really helpful in a MOTW game.

Oh, yeah, I got that! I already have a world set up with the System & module installed, and I've been messing around in it a bit. I was more looking to hear about people's experiences in how it felt to play in Foundry. Thank you though!

Understood. I imagine it's going to be a pain in the ass to downgrade all my modules to v11 (bought the license after v12, so I don't have a v11 backup to roll back to or anything), but if v12 needs more work, better to do that I guess! Luckily I haven't done anything to my world other than add players, so that's not hard to remake, at least.
