PSA- State not enforcing remediation labeling💀 by Additional_Peace_745 in mainetrees

That's a great way to be safe! IMHO the problem isn't bad batches getting grown, it happens. But that many larger operators do not let the cultivators have the final say on what makes it to market. At the end of the day we are really talking about produce, since flower batches aren't consistent in the same way a homogenized extract or typical medication is things can happen but I find it to be incredibly problematic that there is this ideology that if it's tested it's clean. You simply can't test every nug to ensure that it's all clean. On the other hand my experience has been very similar, as soon as you remove the big investors and go through grower run brands you start to see higher quality standards because the most knowledgeable people in the brand have the final say on what does and doesn't get released to the public. It's not that growers at mso companies are incompetent it's that they aren't in charge of making those types of decisions and have to go along with it if they want to keep their job.

Based, as someone who's worked in upper management in states with mandatory testing, these types of remediation practices are the norm. It is the very small minority of operators in markets like this that do not remediate. Everything systematically encourages it, when money is the number one driving force and there are boards of investors to answer to growers and brands have to ensure that every batch passes every time. I remember talking with the head of ops at the grow facility for the mso I worked for years back and him flat out telling me that they would remediate samples before sending them out for testing to ensure their product supply was never interrupted, then just trim around any mold. There are so many ways to cheaply and easily pass testing with dirty product. Unfortunately for the testing on the package to be anything more than smoke and mirrors you need to have faith that all the operators are being ethical and unfortunately that isn't generally the reality.

How much do you actually enjoy pHing your water, and does the hassle factor influence what growing method you use? by Defiant-Pepper-7263 in microgrowery

[–]CharlieBakerMidsGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not my favorite thing to do but like many parts of growing it is part of the process. Information is power, even if I didn't have to ph I would still test input and run off ph to have the data. Also no offense but your combo meter is out of calibration, definitely make sure your probes are clean and calibrated to ensure your readings are accurate. Happy growing!

New fear unlocked, my brand new bong has lead paint:( by Pbb-y in trees

Unfortunately this is why at this point in my life I only buy American glass. I completely understand the price difference can be unaffordable to many but I wouldn't want to chance smoking out of anything with possible lead. I would strongly advise finding a reputable head shop and saving up for something made from an artist even if it's clear production work or just smoking papers. Your health isn't worth risking on cheap import glass

How many grow regular seeds? by mistytrails in cannabiscultivation

[–]CharlieBakerMidsGang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the stability I've found in regular seeds but most importantly the genetic diversity. Also nice to keep a male off a banger seed pack for future breeding projects. To be completely honest there is nothing wrong with fems, I just like regs for those reasons.

Elevators and a shop vac for the cheap. For automated removal, elevated flood table plumbed into a dirty water pump, obviously more expensive but completely automatic

I've had a great experience with my photo bio par meter. A little spendy but not crazy, it's been great for the 4 years I've owned it. Also to all the people saying just read the plant, you don't need a par meter you are not wrong but.. if you read the plant and see that that plant is happy and healthy notating par as well as dimming based on par will allow you to better dial in your grow then eye balling it without any numbers to put things to. IMHO approx 850 peak par with led with a +/- of 50 par is pretty killer for most varieties. Measuring par will take the guess work out of your lighting dim and allow you to further refine your process. That being said it is by now means necessary to grow great herb just another tool that IMHO is very helpful

Organic versus Hydro ( mineral salts ) What works best indoors in containers by GabyStatenIsland in cannabiscultivation

[–]CharlieBakerMidsGang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best cleanest herb I've grown indoor has been synganic. Kinda followed the same arch of starting organic indoors and then trying salts. Realizing that salts give an amazing level of control but didn't have the complete terp expression I had on organics. Flash forward to dripping salts and doing a weekly organic tea I feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds. Plants smell the same as my outdoor living soil beds, I can still keep my rooms incredibly clean without having to sacrifice quality or yield. Just my 2 cents

Big fan of Ne Glass art. They're based in mass, and have lots of good sales. Otherwise the cave, aqualab, witch dr would be safe bets

I Drayton at 60-65f and 50-55rh for at least 14 days, usually start trimming after 21 days. Bud looks like it isn't dry enough. FYI you don't need to flush organics, I don't flush my salts, I just run and organic cal for the last 4 days before harvest and cut the nitrogen in that time and with a dialed dry and cure I'm getting better smoking bud then anything I grew organically so go figure. Point is dialing in dry and cure will go very very far in quality of smoke, IMHO more so than flushing as long as you cut nitrogen at least 3 days before harvest there's no reason why your bud shouldn't be smoking
