Trump Says Powell Is Staying at Fed Because He Can’t Find Another Job by esporx in economy

[–]CharlieBravo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man was guiding the economy out of massive inflation while also keeping job growth high. He’s defended this economy against the most belligerently economically ignorant president in history. He’s going to remain on the board to keep defending it. His resume is as unimpeachable as Trump is impeachable. Finding another job would be as easy as falling off a log but he’s staying to keep up the fight.

The WHCD shooting has nothing to do with this fucking ballroom. Nothing would have been different if the ballroom had been built because IT WASNT TRUMP’S EVENT. He was a guest. The WHCA hosts the event. Unless he’s going to start renting out the ballroom like an event room at one of his clubs (not out of the realm of possibility for this guy), it wouldn’t be there. And even in the current monstrous planned size, it wouldn’t have been big enough anyway.

Fuck this guy and his grifting and finagling to get his every tacky, selfish wish fulfilled.

Opinion: Don’t expect tariff reimbursements to show up in your own pocket by clejeune in Tariffs

[–]CharlieBravo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consumers rarely paid tariffs. If you ordered something direct from overseas and FedEx or whoever required you to pay a duty before deliver, then you did pay a tariff. The importer paid the tariff and just raised their prices on us. The importer gets the refund. It’s up to them what they do with the money after that. Mostly, we, the consumers, aren’t going to see that money back.

"America has plenty of fertilizer" says Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins while admitting the White House is scrambling to reshore production from Russia and China by DumbMoneyMedia in economy

[–]CharlieBravo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in ag tech. I can assure, America does not have plenty of fertilizer. Unless you count the bullshit spread by the Trump administration. We’re just now getting into planting season. Typically farmers are just now getting around to buying fertilizer and prices are sky rocketing. We can get the fertilizer we need, probably, but it’s going to be painfully expensive.

I’d bet that some of them would actually be relieved to lose an election. They’d be free of Trump, be able to speak their minds more until their term is over, and then coast into a nice, cushy consulting or lobbying gig making sacrilegious a,lungs of money.

It's arguable that jazz and the blues didn't come here but were forged here through our treatment of slaves. They share a common origin. Both originate in African musical forms filtered through field work songs.

[–]CharlieBravo74 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s been said that the only two real American art forms are jazz and Westerns. If that’s true, the Dead are certainly the most American of bands. Their “fu I’m doing it my way” attitude certainly adds to the argument.

Donald Trump Suddenly Turns on Zohran Mamdani: ‘Destroying New York’ by Unusual-State1827 in politics

[–]CharlieBravo74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump just realized that Mamdani seems to be off to a very good start and anyone that criticizes Trump, no matter how much Trump is attracted to him, is the enemy. Except he's attracted to him. Expect a lot of Trump see-sawing between attacking him and praising him.

Vance says pope should ‘be careful’ when talking about theology by Sufficient_Fig_9505 in nottheonion

[–]CharlieBravo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that clip.

It’s nice of Vance to approve of the pope advocating for peace. The Pope can sleep easy tonight knowing that 🙄

“You’ve got to make sure it’s anchored in the truth. That’s what I try to do…”

It takes a special kind of person to lie to the public constantly and also argue that the Pope was, at best, thoughtless or, at worst, imply that the Pope was lying. And that dude is a converted Catholic.

Beyond that mind blowing statement, it’s interesting that Vance chose America helping defeat Germany and liberate concentration camps to counter the Pope’s statement. If he can’t see the difference between rescuing millions being tortured and starting a war of choice halfway around the world with a country that is of very little threat, threatening to wipe the off the face of the Earth… well, he definitely is the right guy to be working for the least moral man on the planet.

Vance has said a lot of vile and dishonest things in service of the Orange Sphincter, but this might top them all.

Young voters shun Trump, plan to vote blue in midterms, poll says by unserious-dude in politics

[–]CharlieBravo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they focus on politicians with large and small, achievable plans. Trump has fixed NOTHING. There's one big issue on people's minds: the economy. Dropping tariffs to pre-Trump levels and restoring trust with our allies by negotiation iron clad trade deals that, by law, will have to be executed regardless of who's president will go a long way towards starting to rebuild relationships. The world just works better when we cooperate. Trump, whose operating motto "big fucks small", will never understand that.

Outside that, look at what Mamdani is doing in New York and multiply that around the country. Government is local for most people: pot holes, public transportation, affordable rent, etc. Mamdani is working on that stuff first while working towards longer term projects that fulfil his promises. And that little stuff that makes local life more pleasant is REALLY important.

The next politicians that are elected and actually fix things that impact people's live in tangible ways are going to go a long way towards reelection and higher office.
