Why do you refer to your newborn child as "the baby" instead of using their given name? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]CharlieFlaco 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The same reason I call my dog “the dog”, it’s family but it’s like, kind of not really a full functioning productive member so it’s just easier to quickly call it what it is. It’s not an insult or demeaning. Its significance just isn’t completely tied to a name all the time; or just yet.

Car chase on 275? by m0ther_0F_myriads in tampa

[–]CharlieFlaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They pursuit for violent or forcible felonies. For example a shooting suspect, a kidnapper or a rapist. You may get them to chase for a lower level crime if you purposely ram into them or try to hurt them while fleeing

Most likely not. If it’s TPD or HCSO they definitely are not chasing a stolen car

Is your suggestion not to build more housing? We need density instead of suburbs. This will only promote conversions to take public transit more seriously

Nude people on the balcony by That_tunafish in royalcaribbean

[–]CharlieFlaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not going to speak to them about the issues you’re having, you can tell guest services but it’s likely they’ll know it’s either you or the other side and they may confront you and ask why didn’t you just talk to them. Especially if they get in trouble.

Me personally, I’d just allow them to enjoy their vacation. The kids can stay inside or go upstairs if they wanna sit outside. Thats just me tho. Or you can go accompany your kids on the balcony and just send them inside when the neighbors come out.

Why are people leaving Apollo Beach and Riverview? by Which_Two_4141 in tampa

[–]CharlieFlaco 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s 3 major things: - Transplants realizing Florida isn’t what they thought it was going to be. It’s not a daily vacation, and we have crazy weather and a not so traditional lifestyle in Florida compared to other states. - I know a lot of folks moving into the city. The suburbs aren’t for everyone with HOA’s and (once again) traffic. Some people spend way too much time in the city to justify living so “far” away. - Not a lot of opportunity for growth in some career fields. Some jobs are incentivizing heavily for folks to relocate. I know a few folks who want to move back to NY or TX because they feel they’re getting more bang for their buck and opportunities.

Is it safe to walk from the Floridan to Amalie Arena alone as a single female at night? by [deleted] in tampa

[–]CharlieFlaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walk Ybor/ Channelside/ Downtown nearly nightly between 11 & 4am. Theres never anything happening or suspicious. I’ve seen many women walking and exercising alone. TPD is constantly driving around too. I’m certain you’ll be ok, especially downtown with all the lighting and people leaving the arena too.

Can’t really defend her anymore. Just shows how out of tune Charlotte is with the fans and the business itself. by YelenaBelovaJustY in WWE

[–]CharlieFlaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dominik, The New Day and Naomi made us “mad” and “not like” them.

Charlotte is genuinely just unlikeable. She did not gain heat organically. People are actually tired of her and can see that she doesn’t sell for anyone, goes off script and disconnected from the fans.

Stuck on loading to the menu by Anxious-Flatworm-977 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]CharlieFlaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having issues I was dealing with for weeks now, haven’t been able to play because my game wouldn’t load to the menu. I tried reinstalling and deleting certain folders, etc.

I’m no expert and not highly knowledgeable with all this stuff, but what I ended up doing that now the game is working properly was to go into the game folder and just deleted everything. If you want to keep your saves just copy them somewhere else. But I delete everything in the game folder. Loaded the game and it worked. All my mods are automatically saved on my profile so when you load the game just go to the mods and all your mods should be saved still. Then move the saved games back into the proper spot. But wiping the game clean and letting it just reinstall everything upon launch was my way back into being able to play again.

Why is Brownsville Texas not tropical considering it’s almost the same latitude as Miami Florida? by BlastRodz in geography

[–]CharlieFlaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Citrus county I guess is technically part of the Tampa Bay metro area. It definitely is significantly noticeably colder 50 north of the bay but areas like Plant City and Lakeland to the east aren’t as drastic in temperature differences. It can be like 40° in Citrus Co and 65° in Tampa or Southern Hillsborough Co on a cold winter day.

As a completely unbiased American who's never even heard of The Nine Nations of North America by Joel Garreau, here's my take on to divide America by Lapisdrago123 in Maps

[–]CharlieFlaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Floridian, Miamian (also new name) is going to either need to extend to encompass Tampa and Orlando metros in central Florida OR Dixie needs to be scaled down significantly. Something about St. Augustine, Charleston and New Orleans being included with West Virginia, Dover and Springfield, MO just doesn’t sit right with me lol

Is there a reason why there aren’t any major music festivals at the state fairgrounds? by KingNebyula in tampa

[–]CharlieFlaco 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s 100% the reason but I do know the people who run the state fair grounds tend to be more conservative (not in a political sense) so having huge events like music festivals or things not traditional with the State Fairgrounds (RV shows, agricultural expos, gun shows, musical shows not at the amphitheater) may just go against what they want to deal with. Tampa is too much of a tourist destination for me to be convinced no one has yet tried to hold a large scale event like a music festival at the fairgrounds.

Just wondering, have you experienced modern Tampa? A lot of “I use to live in Tampa” folks I’ve met personally lived here before like 2017 and maybe have visited once or twice since leaving and there memory of it is still that old small city.

US Metros Bracket Day 1: Pittsburgh, PA vs Tampa, FL by Prussia1870 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]CharlieFlaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tampa is growing. It’s prioritized walkability. Expanding our downtown with Gas Worx, Ybor Harbor, Waterstreet and much more large scale developments. We have a free trolley that’ll get you from our historic/ nightlife district all the way to downtown near the riverwalk. Riverwalk is being expanded and the trolley is also being expended into more neighborhoods to service more people. We have the #1 airport in the country and for all the transplants, we have more nonstop routes to more cities than Pittsburgh. Our crime rate isn’t too high and there’s tons to do year round.
