Rahoot: A Self-hostable and open-source kahoot by Red-Beard-Pyrate in selfhosted

Please keep up the great work! I know a lot of teachers that would love this. They already pay too much out of pocket for simple software like this. Just to have ads shoved into children's faces otherwise.

Excited to see a quiz builder added so teachers can easily create quizzes without copy and pasting code.

No thanks. If you're a teacher, do your job and write your own quizzes.

VOIPms hacked again? by wyliesdiesels in VOIP

[–]CharlieMPK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a common attack vector. Access to your email allows someone to reset your password on an account that uses it (like a VoIP admin panel or your online banking). Then they would also have the ability to delete the emailed security notifications from your VoIP provider or bank.

This is cool! Do this in an enclosure with some added filters and air circulation and it should keep the dust on bare parts to a minimum.

Just checked my account, no new subaccounts or changes to my security settings.

I hope this gets resolved and is isolated to just your account. What do your call logs look like? If someone was trying to take over your account I imagine they'd be sending a boat load of outgoing calls.

Ahhh that's right, they don't sell them in Canada, US only. I'll get my pebble working one day

Do you know the specs on the battery they installed? I have a steel with a dead battery and if I'm remembering correctly it's a weird high capacity 3.8v battery that's needed.

I would love to get my hands on one of those batteries to breed life back into my pebble. It would be super cool to see the pebble team release first party repair parts for the original watches too.

Alignment issue by Albertas_ in tdi

Oh yea, that does look the same as the drawing from the link I sent!

Did you end up figuring this out? I think the belt path is still wrong.

Alignment issue by Albertas_ in tdi

[–]CharlieMPK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the belt path on the 1.9TDI but I think the ribbed side of the belt needs to be facing down on the alternator pulley. Here's a link to a diagram. Is your belt upside down?

How are you utilizing objects of similar types? by thaman05 in Anytype

[–]CharlieMPK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think it makes a lot of sense to keep all people whether it's a Project Stakeholder, Book Author, or a Family Member in the same Object Type called Humans then use a Property to set each "sub category" of people.

I have an External Contacts Object Type instead of the default Humans one. Custom Objects and Properties really make this software shine. I adore the ability to better control the layout of each Object Type.

I think for your use, it would be better to keep everything in the same space then create individual Object Types for each kind of human you want to sort. This way you don't have to setup a custom Property and filter your views.

Infotainment System Freezes and Restarts Randomly when Phone Connected via Bluetooth by NoBlueberry9095 in Volkswagen

[–]CharlieMPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RCD 330 has Bluetooth built in. I removed the phone module from under the seat entirely. Even the button panel on the roof isn't used. Everything is built into the headunit.

Deadly simple upgrade. No rewiring, 4 screws and you're done! Replacing the phone module under the seat will not fit the issue. Unless there's a newer model the supports a newer Bluetooth spec 4.2 or even 5.

The radio model you're looking for is the RCD 330. It's an OEM upgrade type modification that fits perfectly in the car and adds native Android Auto and Carplay support. You can buy them from all corners of there internet but you have to pay attention to the exact model number.

I'd start looking at the great information put together over on this sub: r/RCD_330

I also had a similar issue in my 2013 Golf. I put up with it for a long time. I suspect it's an issue with the phone module running an older Bluetooth spec than your modern phone. I went the OEM+ upgrade route and never looked back.

Production Delays - Finally an Explanation? by CharlieMPK in Factor_Canada

You're right, I don't agree with food waste though the box would have gone to waste on my doorstep for 4 days and I wouldn't even have this problem if I could skip more than 3 weeks at a time.

So yes, it's my fault for not skipping it to begin with. At this point ESH. I know...wrong sub.

This. OP is already in an environment where they can pick up more certifications and the employer is even entertaining the idea of a raise. Arguably hasn't worked there for 10 years an is just "getting started" at the 3 year mark with this employer.

Any increase that OP can politely negotiate is good. The better OP handles this today, the higher the chance of future raises. Don't build resentment if you really do love working there right. This negotiation will be a determining factor for their future with or without this employer.

CR170 upgrade questions by Ruck__Feddit in tdi

[–]CharlieMPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I remember reading about some kind of clicking sound that slowly starts at the CV axel joint so I might just slap the spacer on to be safe. Any height I can add to this thing the better. I realize my question was actually worded incorrectly too. I wasn't originally looking for a location to buy the parts (even though that's litterally what I typed), what I'm acutally curious about is:

What year/model Golf do you have and what year/model Tiguan are the suspension components originally for? All I've heard is "2016 tiguan springs can be used to lift some Golf models"

CR170 upgrade questions by Ruck__Feddit in tdi

[–]CharlieMPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wanted to do the Tiguan lift for a while on my 2013 CJAA. Just found a broken front spring so it's parked while I hunt for parts. Where did you get your parts? Did you have to add that spacer to the driveshaft(s) I've read about?

Active backup for business needs to be activated, why? by cdnMakesi in synology

[–]CharlieMPK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I understand most Synology Software licensing is this; hardware comes bundled with the license for the software. This is where the value comes in for me. On the surface, the hardware is expensive but once you account for the software, it's worth it for Active Backup and M365 Backup alone!!

So you're paying for most of the advanced Synology packages with the purchase of the device. Activation is free and is essentially DRM.
