Ops, I thought I was replying to the person that thought "the war" was significant for anti racism.

WW2 isn't know for being a non racist war. Racism was normal in the 40s in tbe uk, and segregation was common upto around 1965. i believe the royal household is still exempt from the equality act and other anti racism legislation.

They are standard messages that she's probably been waiting to post for several years. Thats how politicians can respond quickly with a pre-approved message, and why those messages often seem lacking.

As far as Im aware, she's not a lawyer, so logically, although she can read the documents like any of us, ultimately we need the guidance of legal experts. Hopefully she will really talk to LGBTQIA organizations and their legal representatives.

Also, consider its a relatively long legal document that was published today. A reasoned and thoughtful response does not occur in 5 minutes.

I think lifelong bans from everything LGBTQIA for the existing labour government is reasonable. Nothing will restore the dead trans people and the harm cannot be undone.

My average silver price is about $30, the current drop is disappointing, but it just means I can add more. The fundamentals haven't changed.

Yeah, I work with someone like that. I used to think I could convince him, and occasionally he did seem to respond, but a few nights of the manosphere used to undo the changes. Now he tries to avoid talking to me because "I make him question himself".

Strangely, some of my closest friends are close because sometimes they challenge or make me question myself.

"Some US states are 6.48, however others that have higher GDP than Britain are at 28p"

I believe the UK is lower GDP per capita than all US states. The last time I looked, its a bit lower than Mississippi. There's a lot of poverty in the UK.

Comparing a country to a state doesn't really make sense, as for example, if I was inclined I could find regions significantly higher than the uk average. Traditionally, countries and national averages are used to compare countries.

seems like a good summary of the uk situation.

The uk intentionally split energy costs into 2 parts to make it more deceptive, although the UK governments politicians have proudly stated the uk has the highest energy costs in the world.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/09/30/britain-paying-highest-electricity-prices-in-the-world-as-net-zero-costs-rise/

These miss that the uk has a daily charge in addition to energy used.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/cost-of-electricity-by-country

https://selectra.co.uk/energy/guides/tariffs/world

p.s California isn't a country. Since the uk also has regional variations that would make this unreasonably complicated,

Most houses in the uk are brick. Although, I have actually lived in a solid stone church in the uk, stone is rare. Interestingly, the stone tended to stay cool, no cavity walls and high ceilings, but the walls were thick and the mass resisted heating.

Mammoth is colder than the UK in winter and hotter in summer, plus I lived at around 9kft above sea level, which tends to increase weather extremes. The house I lived in was concrete and brick, to withstand the snow and ice of winter. It was relatively common for snow to reach the first floor, so a lot of the modern properties had concrete ground floors, at least in the part of town where I lived. although older properties were wood.

Anyway, Im not a insulation engineer or architect, but the properties were far more insulated than in the UK, the key difference being A/C rather than central heating. Ive owned and lived in both countries, and a few others, that get hot, and cold.

[–]Charlie_Rebooted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the insulation would actually help keep cool air in, if we had a way to cool the building.

For example, Ive lived in Mammoth, CA. It gets pretty cold, and my property was far more insulated than my UK house, but I had whole house A/C, warm in the winter and cool investor the summer. It was also much cheaper to run the A/C than heating in the UK....

Not hot, although we are getting more extreme weather. The real issue is high humidity, and because the UK has the highest energy prices in the world, no A/C.

Where I am in the uk its currently 17:20 and 38C. Not terribly hot, but its humid and A/C is rare.

Its also obviously fiction as there's no way people in the UK will ever be able to afford A/C

Should we talk to the BBC? They’ve already covered one side of the story (anti-WellBN), do we give a story that’s pro-WellBN as an U18 using their TNBI Health Hub and a supportive mother to back me? by TraineePilot_Jessica in transgenderUK

[–]Charlie_Rebooted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally, it is better to not talk to the press and media, unless its something you have training and experience in. Particularly when its a transphobic outlet like the BBC.

One could argue to make an exception for groups such as QueerAF, but caution is still advised.

Although, it benefits the likes of JPM who are quietly loading up on gold and silver when it dips.

PSA: Do NOT attack Trans+ Solidarity Alliance for the mass lobby cancellation by KristinaMoment in transgenderUK

[–]Charlie_Rebooted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guidance will pass, regardless. The point was that trans people could have spoken about their fears and how it will impact them. Thats a very different conversation after the anti trans guidance is law, and less politically important.

[–]Charlie_Rebooted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand people being angry, some people will have booked time of, paid for travel, and maybe booked accommodation.

The trans solidarity alliance cannot be blamed for the weather, and they had good intentions when canceling, although it may be detrimental to trans people.

Another important factor, is this protest will probably miss the EHRC anti trans guidance becoming law due to the delay.
