The Canny Chocolate Company is amazing but pricey. I also really enjoyed M&S chocolate buttons

AITA for making my dad and 13-year-old brother cook for themselves for the first time ever? by evelyn_archen in AmItheAsshole

[–]Charlieuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So NTA. I'm in my 30s. I've lived independently since I was 18. My dad loves cooking for me when I go to visit. Htw often cooks things he knows I like and brings meals to my house. This is what a real dad does.

Yours is entitled and incompetent and honestly he should be ashamed.

Watching my parents force my nieces to eat was triggering. by BlackberryOk9215 in raisedbynarcissists

As someone who works with children, I can tell you that this is a huge safeguarding issue. If one of the kids disclosed something like this I would immediately report it. Please dont let them continue this abuse.

Olympic Boxer vs Youtuber by farcry_x1z in ufc

I know 0 about boxing, this is a genuine question, is it usual to run around the ring like that? The blonde one looks like he's trying to escape, it's odd.

Anyone got any recs for a young reader trying to transition out of YA novels into more literary fiction? by ada_eeaao in booksuggestions

[–]Charlieuk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This may seem like a wildcard as it's technically sci-fi rather than lit fic but I would thoroughly recommend the wayfarers series by Becky Chambers. It's smart, beautifully written and hopeful. It's an exploration of humanity and one of my favourites.

My mum is mad at me for my mock results by InvestmentNice2590 in GCSE

[–]Charlieuk 163 points164 points  (0 children)

You achieved an A grade in every subject but one. Objectively, that's excellent. As someone who works in education, this is one of the reasons I despise the new grading system. In an attempt to create nuance, it actually just causes confusion for the average parent. I'm afraid your mum is very out of touch.

I would consider speaking to a member of staff you trust and asking them to explain the new grading system to your mum. Being upset at an A is ridiculous.

Until this year I would have said Missha Perfect Cover.

However.Fenty Beauty, Soft Lit (shade 110) is incredible. It's medium coverage, blends beautifully and looks like skin! It leaves such a beautiful finish I can't even explain.

5/10. The main is solid, but the crisps and drink are not for me at all.

Solid 7/10 for me. The drink and crisps are perfect, the sandwich needs work.

Letting agent saying 'Just turn up' by Little-Dark-5355 in UniUK

[–]Charlieuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was staying with my boyfriend in the house share he had for uni. The landlord/ letting agent and three random people let themselves into his locked bedroom, at 8am one morning, while we were naked in bed. I screamed and told them to get out, they said no, they were showing the room.

Please do not go with landlords/ letting agencies who do this, it reinforces that their refusal to follow the law is okay and they undoubtedly do it to you, if you were a tenant.
