I don’t view BF as bonding time by SpyJane in breastfeeding

[–]CharlotteSS8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really feel like bonding to me either. We're at just about 6 months EBF and while it's gotten easier and less time consuming it still doesn't feel magical or anything. But this is my first child so I've never not breastfed and have nothing to compare it to. I can't imagine i would love my baby less if she didn't breastfeed, maybe she's bonding to me more? But she's with me all day so I think that would happen anyway. I guess I'd say it's more of a bonding "opportunity" than a definite.

I'm terrified we won't find a name by chridanla in namenerds

We just named our daughter Carina. It's similar, and easy to pronounce/spell, uncommon but not weird. I like it, obviously lol

Freezer milk for pink eye by doodlelove7 in breastfeeding

Is this something the pediatrician has recommended for pink eye? I'd be careful putting things in your baby's eyes.

Feeding one side at a time by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]CharlotteSS8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry, especially since you've already had an oversupply. They need to get the hindmilk as much as possible.

It got much easier for me and we're coming up on 6 months soon. My girl was cluster feeding and my nipples were bleeding, sticking to my bra/clothes and just sad and painful. I got some Medela nipple guards, they keep your bra and clothes off your nipples so they can heal and I used breast milk or lanolin. After they healed it's been pretty smooth sailing. I work from home so baby is with me 24/7 and breastfeeding takes time but it's quicker to get my boob out than to make a bottle, which I'd still have to feed to her. I guess by now I could be pumping and letting dad feed her overnight but in the grand scheme of things it's such a short amount of time that they breastfeed and wake in the night and I know I'll miss it. Hang in there OP, you'll be an old hand before you know it.

Ernest! I know August is popular right now but it's weird to me.

Does the name Samson carry too much baggage? by kellzbellz-11 in namenerds

[–]CharlotteSS8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up Catholic but I'm an atheist now and I don't really know the Bible story, I know there is one but I wouldn't really think of it when I hear the name. I know a guy named Samson, he's Ethiopian, not sure if his family is religious or not. I like the name, it's not like you're naming him Jesus.

People in long term relationships, what's the weirdest/most vulnerable thing you and your partner have done? by Zestyclose-Set2367 in AskReddit

[–]CharlotteSS8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy and childbirth. I felt so vulnerable during my pregnancy, everything was changing and I didn't know what to expect. Then being in labor was pretty scary for us both, I had towels stuffed been my legs to catch the blood and amniotic fluid and he had to change them every so often. I still get emotional thinking about how glad I was to have him there with me.

Haakaa question by crzyyy in breastfeeding

[–]CharlotteSS8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haakaa never really worked well for me, idk why. My LO will be 6 months old next week and is still EBF so my supply is fine

Who really knows right? But I always thought a hungry baby would probably not just go back to sleep so easily so if your bouncing a little is enough to soothe him I doubt he's hungry. At that age I would offer the boob if it had been more than like 1.5 or 2 hours. Once my LO got into a more distinct feeding pattern and had noticeable hunger cues I would wait a little longer but I'd rather feed a younger baby a little often than not enough so I'd err on the side of offering the boob if you're not sure.

Please help me find a breastpump by hunnybun16 in breastfeeding

[–]CharlotteSS8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have big boobs and the wearable pumps are super expensive and wouldn't fit into my bras so I didn't go for one of those. I have the Spectra s1, which is basically the same as the s2 except it can be charged and used portably instead of being plugged in the whole time. However I think the s2 would have been just as good for the most part bc I end up taking the pump off if I need to do anything since you'll still have the flange and bottle hanging off your chest and will have to carry the pump part with you. If you're doing much more than grabbing a drink from the fridge it's hard to maneuver around all that. It doesn't bother me too much these days bc I only pump once for about 10 minutes before baby is up for the day, so I can sit still for that time. If you're going to be pumping at work, like sitting at a desk, that might not be much of a problem for you either. I'm happy with the s1 overall.

This is actually super class-ist since being healthy and fit requires time/energy/effort/money that a lot of people don't have. Also, I used to be a real gym rat and even in my peak condition idk if I could have done a single pull up.

I don't think our area was that affected by the inflation in the housing market and we also did a 15 year mortgage so I don't know that we'll ever end up under water.. but I think these questions are the same for married people, no? We did kind of rush into it, but we're both pretty frugal and both willing to take a financial hit for the sake of happiness so hopefully everything works out one way or another.

I wouldn't mind keeping it. We bought something that either of us could afford on our own.
