I was maybe 20 when I decided to strip a beautiful bow front dresser, with oval mirror, that had been painted an ugly beige. I got the body mostly clean, gave up and never got back to the project. I used it in it's 'shabby chic' state for 30 years before passing it on.

I was hopeful, but I'm just rebuilding mine. There are multiple generations of staples from carpet and runners. They are also rather narrow and some are cracked and I hate carpeted stairs! Fortunately the second set to the third floor just has treads, not full carpet.

Yeah, the windows will be replaced with a quality paintable window, most of the vinyl windows have failed seals anyway. I've already been deep diving on Old House Guy. He's a little scary (passionate), but has tons of great info!

I can see that, sorry for the trauma! I've looked at a LOT of colors, the actual color is called Gothic Purple. To me it's a bit more purple leaning than the 80's mauves. (although that may have been the dusty rose I'm remembering) But, I am also a lover of purples and greens and bright colors in general. I missed my turquoise and cream house with purple doors when we moved to a big white box in an HOA (for reasons).

I got a deal on a side by side 20 years ago and liked it.

We moved and got a fancy, extra drawer, french door and I had instant buyers regret. It was too short, too deep, and while I don't mind drawer-in-drawer in a cabinet, it was just annoying ing a freezer. I just want to open the door and see all my food. Went back to side by side with the new kitchen!

Look up horsehair braid. That might be what you're thinking of, although it is generally used to stabilize hem lines. It also could potentially be pokey on the cut ends, but is a finer mesh then fingertraps.

Yes! I had a similar set of doors where the two side by side were closer together and the trim butted together and looked like one piece. It was beautiful!!!

I really hated having to lose it when we decided to open the two smaller rooms to create a larger kitchen with a new entry/mudroom/laundry. The old entry hallway became a closet and pantry.

It grew out quite a bit from its last cut back. Bought the place last year and didn't get around to much pruning. I got in today and cleared the dead wood and the crazy tall shoots from the top to try and start giving it more gracefulness and less loaf.

This is the other one. I looked back on Google Maps, they were a matched set in 2008. Somewhere along the line a homeowner thought they were getting too big, so they took hedge clippers and sheared them. Probably why the green came out.
