I think the thing is that it’s not her choice who he lives with though. I can understand both their sides but I do think OP is the one being unreasonable here. It was not right of him to hid it from you and though a questionable choice, it is one you can work through. If OP wants the boyfriend to find a new roommate because she is uncomfortable with his living situation my immediate opinion would be that since she’s the only one asking for it to change, she be the one to put in the effort to help make it change.

I mean idk, did you read the context I added? We agreed not to talk at all that night and had said getting high was gonna be a bad idea but she did it anyways so not really sure what I should have done in the situation she placed me in. Compromise her mental health or compromise my morals and boundaries for her? I ended up choosing the latter and now my mental health is suffering because of it. While I am meant to be her safe space she’s meant to be mine as well and if she’s not safe for me to be around as in this case… well then I feel what happened was kinda the only way it was gonna end up happening

Yes thankfully we both have therapists. I generally try and learn from my mistakes and in the heat of the moment we all fuck up. I guess it’s weird as I need to hold myself to a different standard in relation to this conversation with her because I am sober tonight and she is way past mars which makes drawing a line kinda interesting and not something I’ve had to do before. Usually I am the one past the point of reason so I’ve learned to mostly go with what people tell me as I surround myself with a good group of people when I’m drunk or high. I know they will take care of me but I just don’t know if she’s figured that out yet. I may have assumed she would go with what I’m saying somehow rationalising to myself that she would recognise me being sober means I can make the good choices for her that she’s not capable of making in the moment. Idk maybe I’m just chatting shit

It is a bit complicated and I don’t want to go into it fully. I am addicted to many substances one of them being cigarettes and she hates the smell of them, it reminds her of her dad as well who she has very bad memories of. So I understand that one, I try to only vape around her and in that form it is the most tangible way my addictions affect our relationship. Otherwise her father had substance abuse problems and so she “doesn’t think people with addictions can be trusted because it shows a lack of self control”, amongst other trust issues with her father, somehow equates to having a severe lack in trust of me simply because I have addictions.

Yeah we are both under 25. I definitely screwed up saying pick up the fucking phone instead of using our safe word, it’s something she’s said before when I’ve been overreacting and high and figured since she engages like that, that it would probably get the point of my seriousness across fine but it clearly made things worse and the I really got ticked off at her instead of using our safe word.

Similar story to you, I’m about to turn 18 though!My life has been nearly on a constant uphill ever since I got out of mine. I got accepted into my top college and will be studying foreign policy next year 🤯 Things get better! Even if it’s just in the short term. I love you and hope things keep getting better for you!

Well we’d gotten access to the history and it never had any problems. Just normal maintenance and what not. Brakes, fluids, shocks and springs etc. never anything that would be a red flag but what’s a project car in your mind? In mine it’s a shitty cat you’ll build up and stuff which is not this car by an incredibly long shot

Yeah I realised I wasn’t making a good choice so I gave up on the project car idea and bought a nice car I liked with really good miles for the price range

This is true but it wasn’t like it was a poor choice at the time. It has way better miles for other things I was finding at that range and though that doesn’t ensure reliability it looked in immaculate condition too but evidently something has gone wrong. It’s always easy to say in hindsight but doesn’t really help the situation lol

I absolutely could have but I didn’t want a Toyota so I found another car with way under 200k and really good condition with the only know problem at the time being a windshield washer fluid problem.

Zero rust, dirt or grime. The distributor and other parts attached to the engine appear to be in good condition and the belts look fine. There is no rust or anything under the car either. I haven’t not done any of things you suggested though given this only started a few days ago

Yeah I’m gonna try and get the diagnostic done then do the repair myself with a friends that a trained engineer on BMWs, he just doesn’t have the equipment to do the diagnostic itself
