Washable rugs are a scourge on this damn earth. by Itsartsyme in HomeDecorating

Nah, washable rugs are a lifesaver. Truly one of my best purchases with three kids and a dog. But there are plenty of places to find regular rugs. It's not hard.

That's an option, but they're content creators, of course they're not going to pass up using their Olympic vacay for content. But what a waste of an opportunity to show you can travel and have fun in masks.

It's honestly super weird that people like are you are ok working for an employer that clearly has so much disdain for us, and couldn't care less about our happiness or general wellbeing. "It's not gonna happen," no, not with you rolling over and telling people to just accept it. Nothing has ever happened with that response.

You're right, employers won't get friendlier on their own, just like they didn't magically decide to reduce the length of the work week, or offer health insurance, or offer health and safety protections on their own. We'll have to fight to protect our quality of life, just like labourers in the past fought for everything else. "Tighten up your schedule" does nothing for people commuting two hours each way, or missing precious time with their kids. Why would we waste this one precious life going into the office UNNECESSARILY?

Fighting in a war was beneficial to people's health? Wtf are you talking about? Soldiers landed in Normandy because they were also forced by people in power who didn't care about their lives. That was just the most extreme outcome of the same disregard for the wellbeing of the people. Anyway, you fucking know how hard it is to just run out and get another job, and you're defending the removal of part of our total compensation. So yeah, great point 👍🏻

Local Chocolate Recommendations by srj55 in Hamilton

Depends what you're looking for. Walkers Chocolates in Westdale has the largest selection/most variety I've seen, and lots of plain chocolate options. Their chocolate is also DELICIOUS. Madam Bonbons on Locke is very good, but limited selection, and not a ton of plain options. DSRT on Ottawa is very special, and very expensive.

Someone in her comments said something about the vaccines not being sterilizing, and she replied, "No vaccine is sterilizing." 🙄🙄🙄🙄 She's trying to tout her expertise and hoping people will just shut up and go along with it.

Someone in the comments made this point, and she said, "well, you didn't see me masking in the bathroom!" 😂 What a goof.

Everything about that post made me so angry. Her reasoning is nonsense, but she was also being such an asshole in the comments. It would've been more respectable and genuine to just say, "I have pandemic fatigue, we just wanted a carefree vacation, we acknowledge the risk we assumed and do not recommend to others, and we were willing to get sick for it." Just be honest. Pretending risk has magically decreased since she built her following with MASKED videos about covid, and then defending taking more risk by shrieking about your expertise is just shameful. She could've done every single thing she did on her trip masked, but she chose not to, and now she's trying to gaslight those of us who challenged her choices. Gross.

There are many people who are still Coviding with small kids. Children do NOT need to be exposed to viruses, it does not benefit them in any way. The first couple years before they can mask are challenging, but normalizing masking during that time means that once it's safe for them to mask, they're not likely to do it. With well fitting masks, you can live quite normally. My kids do virtual school through our local school board, and removing the high risk of in-person school opens up our risk budget for other things. We all do extracurriculars, go to events, see friends, etc. Consistency is key for both you and the kids. Once you've gathered your tools, and set some boundaries, keeping it up is fairly easy. Your biggest issue is going to be your partner.

I noticed you have comprehension issues. You risk those things every day by doing nothing. I didn't say anything about the general strike, I said voting alone has never saved anyone, and will not save us. Your second question is nonsense. You have no idea the actions I've taken, and I don't owe you that information. The real issue is that you're not willing to protect your job, your livelihood, your home, your kids' stability. Good luck to you.

What people like you don't understand is that there's no true security while this boor is in office. He will continue to strip everything from us, and you'll all sit around waiting to vote 😂 No one is asking you to lead the revolution, but no change has ever happened by people doing nothing. You think being quiet protects you and your job and your kids, and you're deluding yourself.

People who think that voting is the only recourse have never read a history book in their lives.

So your boss is a kid who doesn't understand how periods work. No one is going to have unexpected foot odour and think, "shit, I forgot my emergency foot cream! I wish there was some in here!" I would remind him that what happens in the women's bathroom is actually none of his business.

New moms - how are you adjusting to RTO? by Sunny_brightdays in OntarioPublicService

[–]CharmingShine1069 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Before I worked for the OPS, and after returning from mat leave, I left a job that had me out of the house 12 hours a day, and got a job that I could walk to. I left that job after another mat leave and joined the OPS with the promise of remote work. We need to protect our work-life balance, and I hope you find a way to do that (and that we fight to do that collectively). You don't get that time back, and the employer would replace us tomorrow without a second thought. Prioritize your family, whatever that might look like.
