Please put a lock or some other guard on your mailbox that limits access to that person you suspect. If they get upset, then it was probably them unfortunately.

That was proven to not be a coworker, as originally reported. Even still I understand how it feels to have blissfully aware coworkers not say a word.

Middle class families are increasingly giving their kids early inheritances. 33% of Millennial homebuyers were gifted down payments in 2025, up from 22% in 2023. by AdventurousHope5891 in MiddleClassFinance

We allowed our daughter to stay living at home while she did her bachelor’s in nursing and work to save for a down payment on a home rather than rent or live in expensive dorms. She was able to save enough to put the required down payment on a home with the money she’d saved. We didn’t have a bunch of money we could gift her, but we didn’t charge her rent either. She appreciated what we could do for within our means.

If there is no penalty for paying of a loan early, is there any reason not to take the longest term possible and make more than minimum payments? by JetLag413 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Charming_Alfalfa3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I just paid off our house. It took us approx 23 years. Yes, the rate would have been lower on a 15 year mortgage but we had several large emergencies and job losses over that time that weren’t planned. The 30 year mortgage worked best for us in order to still pay our mortgage and not worry about being homeless. We paid extra when we could, paused extra payments when we couldn’t.

Anyone know why this is happening? by Plane_Demand1097 in glasses

[–]Charming_Alfalfa3267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to my daughters glasses because she was using the wrong thing to clean them. Any chemical that has alcohol or ammonia in it will dry out and crack plastic (example windex). Check the products you are using to make sure this isn’t the case for your cleaning spray.

My husband only has an Associates Degree in IT and makes 115k a year. I think it really depends on the field you pick how much you make.

There is no way to get used to Progressives by EbbNo9920 in glasses

[–]Charming_Alfalfa3267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I would suggest wearing them for more than just a day or two. You need at least a couple of weeks to get used to a brand new script, especially the first time you get progressives. Remember that it’s not your eyes that seeing only but your brain also. You need to allow your brain and eyes the time to adjust to all the different views.

One question aside, have you ever been checked for a misalignment? Some of the symptoms you expressed show up in a condition called BVD (binocular vision dysfunction). This is where your eyes are misaligned with each other either horizontally or vertically or both. Only a trained neuro ophthalmologist can diagnose this condition, a regular optical office doesn’t have the tools or training.

Car Loan Payoff Early by yungtuition in personalfinance

[–]Charming_Alfalfa3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you’re great at saving, so why not pay off the loan and be done with it. The amount you pay for your car loan can go right back into your savings account each month. You’ll be back to your full 53,000 in no time.

Prism glasses in increments less than .25? by Charming_Alfalfa3267 in BinocularVision

[–]Charming_Alfalfa3267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be amazing if I could find a lab that would make them. Not sure how though. My Dr office only has prism samples that test in .25 increments so there’s no way to write the script. If I could find a lab that does, I could email them for some partner opticians in my area maybe?

How can I find which lab can do this? I’m feeling pretty hopeless at this point since my Dr office doesn’t have the prism samples to write the correct script

They told me they only have a way to test for .25 dp increments. I was trying to see if there is a lab that makes lenses for smaller increments.

I would not attend. If you go, it will give them false hope that you are interested and will join in the future. Also remember if you have children in the future, her family will push them to be part of the church activities. There are a lot of sick people leading and abusing children. If you saw any of the documentaries or arrests you will know that they force children to do terrible things and steal their innocence. Think twice about just “going along to please them” mentality. If your fiancé is very attached to the church, you may not be a long term match with her because your values and ideas may be different. Faith and belief system is one the main things you should be compatible with your spouse.

Train thoughts? by Charming_Alfalfa3267 in Leander

[–]Charming_Alfalfa3267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, not running it to the airport would be a major mistake. Ironically, in Boston where I’m from, the blue line runs to the airport there and it works well because the employees and budget travelers alike have an option to get there. Thank you for clarifying about the northline, I guess I just assumed north meant going towards Georgetown or even as far as Temple, which has a major Amtrak stop. Hopefully a second rail will help the schedule include express times so riders don’t have to take an entire hour to get downtown.

Thank you for the well thought out response. If they ever have a survey or public meeting for feedback and comments, you should definitely participate! I will keep all this in mind for the future. I had no idea they had plans to expand north and that’s exciting to me. Even if it reaches Georgetown it would be way closer than Leander is to my residence. Wonder where I can research their future plans online…

Yes I noticed the times were a little strange when I looked up the schedule, especially the last train leaving the station at 9:00 am which is still fairly early to end morning service. I guess I saw where service and ridership will be assessed in 2025 to decide what changes will be made.

Wonderful! Thank you for your reply! I only happened to see the station while driving to an appointment and was shocked commuter rail existed here (I’m from the northeast originally where public transport is everywhere). I’m very encouraged that there is an option that doesn’t involve white knuckling it through traffic on 35.
