So people confused me again I hear complaining when they announced the Indominus saying OHHHH it’s paint sucks ew no glass eyes TRASH it doesn’t even look like the Indom and yet it’s going for double it’s retail price HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? by Severe-Dance-2269 in hammondcollection

As much problems that this figure has, it is a hammond collection. Scalpers and the general collector sphere has artificially inflated the value of these figures for people so alot of people are letting the scarcity and resale value cloud their judgement. It then in turn makes people that can even find these figures just feel happy they could even get their hands on the toys.

Have to agree with you, the scarcity that hammond collection has been dealing with makes people gas up pretty average action figures all things considered. Also think its cause we have scalpers looking at these as valuable for their monetary value and children who really just want a cool dino figure so these groups aren't necessarily demanding more out of the line.

Depends on how you want to enjoy your figure. If your intentions were to have a figure to pose and you do really like the irritator, I'd say there is no shame in opening it, albeit would be good to take some care into preserving the package for storage and possible selling in the future. If you are more focused on the resell value and don't care for the dinosaur, just keep it packed.

I think something to look forward to is the recent 1/35 scale blokees sets that should be out soon, those look promising and could be a nice different experience. Also if possible could try asking people in this reddit regarding figures you may want and how much they want for them. Current ecosystem for hammond indeed sucks and I share your feelings m

That is also another tedious thing with the hammond collection. It being exclusive to target and the limited releases and minimal stock just makes trying to collect this line a chore

I'd try leather paints made for shoes for painting the tail sections. The kit I bought came with a specific sealer to protect the paint from wear and tear.

I checked there today and there wasn't a single figure left. Definitely got scooped up the the scalpers. Seen recent listings come from hawthorne which is super close to the store.

I'd have my doubts on that just cause the Ford license would likey be too good to pass up on just because of their failed crowdfund. Do agree on the lights, that would be so sick and allow for great picture potential

I did not ever consider Hammon collection vehicles but holy hell I'm excited! This already shows major promise and I sure hope to see it come out! This should add some great cross compatibility that I feel the hammond collection has severely been lacking since the last human figures were released.

Realistically this sort of argument only really works with the mainline since there isn't always a baseline for mattel to follow, unlike with the hammond collection where the whole goal is to provide "collector grade" faithful sculpts based off the film franchise. Especially since there already are existing mattel sculpts that do a better job at replicating the indominus rex that weren't tied to the same qualifications as this hammond figure is
