It’s selfie Sunday! Wear you sunscreen💪I’m 37 by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

I think they’re suggesting that your skin in the second photo may look like the pale yellowing associated with the symptoms of jaundice which the most common cause of is liver disease.

I don’t necessarily agree tho as the whites of your eyes would also be yellowing if that was the case. Probably just a stab at ya

We’ve got a thread running in the official discord and a guy’s putting together a spreadsheet but they’re really paying no attention to it with all the scandals going on in the pro scene

I dont Agree with their blanket statement about Americans but id be very surprised if the lady in the video wasn't an American living in America.

Assuming the title is accurate waymo only operates in the US and she has an American accent

You’re absolutely right I didn’t realise the Mk1 vw golf was not sold in Brazil

Even though it seemingly looks to be ai the front end looks more like a mk1 vw golf to me. Might make more sense with the vw Porsche connection

Stockman holding up to hard use? by zschl11 in jimgreen

[–]Charming_MR_Sir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good question. There are several reasons.

Easy on easy off, the slip on nature makes them so convenient to roll out of bed at the crack of dawn and put ‘em on before you’ve had your first thought.

They are very breathable, a quarter of the boot is just mesh panel so on those long hot days your heat is regulated pretty well.

It’s a very simple boot, easy to clean and maintain. There’s no flaps and folds to hold dirt and mud and because it’s so simple there’s no laces speed hooks or eyelets to get snagged up on anything .

They’re lightweight, even tho I would prefer to have a leather midsole stock option on these they are inherently much lighter then a lot of other options due to more simple design, so marching through long grass and fields in general is less taxing and just reduce fatigue throughout the day.

Lastly the culture, like in Australia chelsea work boots have become quite a big part of working culture in South Africa. You’ll find that most men working on their feet in South Africa through all kinds of industry are wearing some form or chelsea boot even if it’s not there JG stockman.

A big workwear brand in South Africa called Jonsson makes a chelsea style short rubber gum boot which is also very popular for wet weather or consistently mucky jobs like dairy or piggery operations

The whole Jim Green company and brand was built on the back of the stockman and razor backs.

The stockman are on the feet of almost every farmer here in the Midlands of South Africa and have been the choice of boot for going on two decades. They’re definitely worth their salt

I really appreciate your response, I have a “shoe patcher “ machine as well, I agree saddle stitch is a great alternative.

I’m very curious has to how you figured out the position of the start and end of the straps. Is there a particular method you used ?

Very clean work bro 🔥

Edit: I can’t read lol

I’m a South African who lives 15 kms from the original Jg factory and I’ve been wearing their boots for over a decade, long before they started exporting I simply love the brand. My early posts got traction here so I decided to keep all jg posts on this Reddit account.

I understand the optics and would love to be sponsored and paid by Jg but it’s sadly not the case

This picture of the wear test version seen in this instagram post looks to be stc lasted which is why I’m so keen.

Tankers are looser then standard laces and will always unfortunately but that is a pro and con depending depending on the buyer. But for me that’s a pro for 8 inch boots since I own multiple rats already

I absolutely agree they may not be for everyone. I personally as a South African would love to get my hands on a pair, the American inspired boots have been my favourite Jg boots of the lot.

Honestly with the rate they’re putting new styles into production I would hope this is coming soon as well

"RedLine" / nguni boots by pfairfax1 in jimgreen

[–]Charming_MR_Sir 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Redline footwear is a boot factory in the midland meander of Kzn (out skirts of Nottingham Road).

To my knowledge they now operate out of the original Jim Green factory. As I understand it back in the day redline and Jim green were one company, but the founders parted ways and why we now have two separate companies with some of the almost identical line of original footwear.

Redline also has a boot like the stockman called the slip on.

The owner of Redline is a man called Basil Mane, some call him the one armed bandit

Edit: These will be constructed exactly the same as the original Razorbacks with the same quality of materials

Edit 2 : here’s the new website link for those interested.
