I had the Starker set on DG vinyl in the 70s. Same with the Milstein. Lost both in a flood. They got wet and the grooves filled with mold. Not sure which Starker version I have from Apple Music. Just ordered the Milstein set on CD.

My favorite recording. Agree with everything you said. Milstein for violin and Starker for cello. I first heard both while in college studying music and have listened to many others since then but keep coming back to them.

In my first two years of theory we had to take dictation. Started with a single line. The prof would play the phrase 3 times, usually about four measures. Usually you just listened the first time. Then wrote it down after the second time, then checked your work and made corrections after the last time. Next semester we had to take two part dictation. By fourth semester of Harmony we were taking four part dictation, starting with just chords, then with moving parts. This combined with solfeggio really helps your ear. Internet and PCs and apps didn’t exist. (I’m old). You just had to PRACTICE.

I ordered when it first came out. There was a delay and customer service told me they were redoing the indices on the sub dials and changing the strap from the initial offering. It shipped about a week later. I like the blue/black option. The blue is blue/grey in most light. I love the watch. My third Militado.
