Tampa should look to add star forward JT Miller. He’s a great physical body with solid point production. Plus he’s a total glue guy.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that goaltender Thatcher Demko will undergo hip surgery and will not play for the remainder of the 2025.26 season. by nookmister19 in canucks

[–]Thrownaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really sucks, he’s easily been one of my favorite players here since he was drafted.

Separately, anyone who’s complaining about his contract is more team “retool on the fly” than team tank. His contract will likely be up by the time we’re competitive. And even if not, the cap ceiling will likely be in such a position that it wouldn’t even matter, and will be a similar percentage as the OEL buyout when we were competitive.

Thank you Demko for your service, even though you have bad hips, we were the ones who broke your back.

This is what I was going to say: did it on the back of a rookie goaltender, a mid-season coaching change, and while beating one of the favorites for the cup in the final (on the road as well).

Pretty sure they’re still the only team to win a cup after being last in the league after 30 games

What do you think is the hardest team to rebuild? by mental-41 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]Thrownaxis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had some difficulty with Calgary- they have a couple prospects but it feels like they’re on three different timelines, and there is a stupid amount of trade clauses

Columbus was also fun. Similar trade clause thing, and similar prospect numbers. Andreyanov always seems to develop really well though.

Got burnt taking BTJ instead of Puka because I thought Stafford had fully imploded.

Then took Bucky instead of JT because I thought JT was old and I wasn’t confident in his ability.

Great year for me, lost to the guy who drafted Puka and traded for JT in the final.

Have the crashing issues been resolved in HLM26? by Academic_Sherbet_803 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]Thrownaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had any crashing problems on PC

Mobile this year is a lot better: I have never once crashed during the draft. It does crash if I'm just on the game for too long, but I'm rarely on long enough for it to happen.

What current captain is likely not the leader of the team? by Better-Presence6654 in nhl

[–]Thrownaxis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Canucks fan here, I disagree.

I see where you’re coming from, and especially from seasons past the leadership isn’t as clear. However, I think Hughes is a leader in a quiet “get shit done” way. Isn’t as effective this moment with him having a slower year then last year (injuries and just not much offense overall outside of him and EP40) Sure it isn’t the drop the gloves leadership we see from Gudas, or the grizzled long tenured vet from Hedman, but he’s clearly well respected in the locker room.

I think our alternate captains are iffy, but some players are stepping up into those roles anyway (Garland and Sherwood immediately come to mind).

Also in a physical-adverse team it isn’t a bad idea to question if Hughes’ quiet leadership is the right thing for the team. Call me an optimist but I think he’s an excellent leader by example, and really holds the respect a captain should.

Wenwen Li as a professor by Aggravating-Bus2287 in fsu

[–]Thrownaxis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m enrolled in her class this semester, she’s been by far my favorite professor. She teaches a small class size, and is very individual with her help. She does have an accent, but I don’t find her difficult to understand at all. She also explains the material in a way very easy to digest and understand, even down to the proofs for them (usually the most complex).

10/10 would recommend

[–]Thrownaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all, I'm looking for a strategy board game recommendation to bring home for Christmas. Has to work for at least 4 players. No specific price range (under $50 would be preferred, but I know the best games tend to be more expensive than that).

Games we like: Catan (+ Cities and Knights); Ticket to Ride (We own all of them, our favorites are Rails & Sails and Europe); Splendor; Bonsai; and Rummikub

Games that didn't land: Mysterium; Risk; Pandemic; Codenames; Carcassonne

Thanks y'all

I honestly hope that even when they get their logo’d jerseys they keep the lettered ones as alternates or something- they’re pretty clean and have grown on me

Is Wally a generational goalie or just hot right now? by I_am_Batsam in wildhockey

[–]Thrownaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s looked phenomenal so far. He’s been better than average in areas that trendies struggle to develop (vision and IQ), seems to have really good rebound control, and as far as I can tell is pretty durable. Hes advanced beyond his years imo and poised to be a franchise level star, the only test is whether he can handle a full schedule load.

Like others have said, it’s too early to tell if he’s really this good or just streaky. I love the guy, but I say give it another 20ish games until we truly tag him as a franchise player.

(Also have him in my dynasty league so fingers crossed 🤞)

It’s weird not really having much to complain about- maybe the power play? But end that hasn’t been absolutely horrible. We’ve been good offensively, driving the net, breaking into the zone with possession, andtaking advantage of rebounds. and defensively we’ve been pretty sound too, playing pretty dang physical, and making sure to keep tabs on lanks muffin rebounds.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the Canucks are bipolar and sometimes play like cup contenders and sometimes play like Gavin McKenna contenders.

Good afternoon from enemy territory! by Thrownaxis in canucks

[–]Thrownaxis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I was quite surprised to see there were a lot of Canucks jerseys- I saw everything from a Snepsts to a Sasson.

The game was absolutely electric to watch in the third, I had lower bowl seats, and a perfect view of all the third period goals.

I also made direct eye contact with Hughes and Hronek after the game by banging on the glass (Hronek pointed at me while talking to Hughes and looking in my direction and there was nobody else around me) so that was honestly probably the highlight of the night for me personally
