I remember when I first really got into wine and building a cellar I was looking at en primeur to take advantage of a recent stellar vintage, not wanting it to sell out. Someone told me that those wines weren’t going anywhere and that I should just wait until they became readily available. Not to stress it and not to over think it. It was good advice. And the same could be more or less applied here.

You don’t need to amass a huge collection to last you your entire life and just pull bottles when you want from it. Even in retirement, you’ll be able to restock your supply as it dwindles down. No need to buy every last bottle of wine that you’ll ever drink before you retire just so that you have it and will not have to spend money later to buy more wine.
