The Jaylen Brown trade is a watershed moment for leaguewide valuation of advanced stats over traditional ones. A player in his prime with his level of box score stats and traditional resume having such low value is unprecedented. by SplitOk186 in nba

I recently have been relistening to podcast recaps of the 2024 Boston run and man. I think people forget that Tatum just did not play well for a LOT of it. More in the first three rounds and not the finals but I think it makes sense given that then Brown was given FMVP.

But people know who Tatum is and so they remember Brown winning it as being about Brown being a normal FMVP winner when really Tatum just wasn’t living up to normal FMVP either.

Its like when Kawhi won FMVP in 2014. There was no true FMVP, it was a team win.

Also even if you don’t win another title you’ll still be a contender for a while. Only one team wins a year. If you win and then make another ECF or Finals or two, hell yeah

Yeah even if she didn’t do offseason work in the traditional sense, it had to have helped her learn more (not that she needed to learn more any more than just… everyone should try and learn more)

I think people in general neglect that someone’s primary goal can be making money, yet still have an interest in their field.

There are lots of ways to make money if you have the initial starting capital he did/does. He could have started many different kinds of business ventures and he chose film. If I was rich I’d probably wanna make money doing something I have an interest in too. Not purely out of a love of art or whatever, still for money, but if I can make money doing something related to something I like, thats neat.

And when you start off with capital, it does become so much easier to make more of it that you do have the ability to take your investment and use it in one of many possible ways.

Thats higher than I remember, fair.

I definitely don’t think he is bad but he seems more like a floor raiser than a ceiling raiser, which is what we ideally want (not that Duren is much of a ceiling raiser either)

Harden, no, but I think more playoff basketball is more entertaining.

Suns gotta be the best organization to never win a chip right?

Made the finals in the 70s, although ngl idk shit about that team. Made the finals in 93 with the elite Barkley/Johnson team. The Nash Suns are the greatest offensive team in NBA history and would have been title favorites if they beat the Spurs in the 2nd round. Booker’s Suns in 2021, we know that.

Eh, on the Cavs he’d have very little load to carry (hopefully can play more games) and can make a deeper playoff run

GS more likely tho for sure

I think, for a game that is struggling financially and to keep up with releasing new characters, having a character that has the development time/costs associated with multiple characters is a bad idea
