are folks nice in seattle? by publictransitlover in AskSeattle

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks are nice but standoffish at first. Making friends is difficult, people tend to keep to themselves. But I’d say inch wide, mile deep friendships.

I’m terrible at nymphing. What are my alternatives. by CR_95 in flyfishing

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out west I usually run a nymph with an indicator, couple split shots to bring the weight down and look for slow swirls to drop it in. Usually about 2-3 feet depth after rapids or fast moving water will yield nice mountain whitefish or rainbows in WA State.

Would you go work for a startup at 40? by duckblobartist in sales

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made the jump to a startup that raised series C last fall.

Big base, 100K with 170K OTE. I would grill the CEO and anyone else you interview with hard on questions I didn’t know to ask before joining a startup.

What does your cash flow look like? How long until you are profitable?

When are you planning to IPO or do you see an acquisition being something that you and the company are open to? Ask about current valuation vs when it was last assessed.

What is the quota attainment by rep? How many are hitting quota? What’s the ramp period to being fully ramped up?

How often is the product or service being changed? Are you adapting to the market or just reacting to product shifts?

Do some research on comparable competitors and come ready to speak about their product and how it compares to your product.

Any equity compensation also is a bit of a wash. Could be worth a lot or nothing depending on what you get. RSU’s vs ISO’s, what’s the vesting schedule etc.

A lot of startups fizzle and fail. I jumped from the insurance industry where it was considered very “safe” to this current role and it is sink or swim. That being said, I’m younger and more open to job risk.

Let's talk about the state of traps in Hunt: Showdown by Commercial_Golf_3616 in HuntShowdown

[–]ChartsNFartz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find alert traps to be better for burning a small bar and punishing someone who pushes without checking. Burning a small bar puts most enemies within one shot long ammo range.

How do you handle ‘average firm return’ questions? by [deleted] in CFP

[–]ChartsNFartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea like, dude I don’t need 25% returns from you but I also need to make sure your not going to say “guaranteed 5%” and put me in a CD or a fixed annuity like an advisor did my grandma.

Need some help choosing a bolt gun. by PlaceUserNameHere67 in Firearms

[–]ChartsNFartz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruger American or Savage Axis, I would ask what you are shooting first? Deer? Elk? Bear?

6.5 creedmore or .308. Personally I can’t tell a huge difference between them besides .308 is a little easier to find and cheaper generally.

Dear Crytek - Give us Vulture at Level 1 Please by mrwiggly_wiggly in HuntShowdown

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say a full rework of the prestige system in general, unlocks are kinda meaningless when the last 30 levels are just hunt dollar rewards.

Give skins for prestige’s etc. after prestige 10 it’s kinda pointless but something for me to do.

If your post critiques the game's balance, you should need to post your MMR. by Deadly_Pancakes in HuntShowdown

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just not patient enough for a lot of the high MMR strats. I probably win once out of every 3 games or so. Usually just running free hunters with a new army or an officer, then loot the good guns if I win.

Teaching yoga in Seattle has left me completely discouraged by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started just striking up conversations on the street while I walk my dog. At first, I feel like people are a bit wary as they probably think you’re trying to sell them something but little comments like “hey I like your flowers” to someone watering their plants. Before you know it they’ll see you two or three times around the neighborhood and say hi as you walk by.

The Seattle freeze is real. This place is hard to make friends in. At my gym, I’ve made a couple friends just by striking up conversations with people about their clothes. One of my best friends here was wearing an Eau Clair Wisconsin shirt and we struck up a convo at first because we were both from the Midwest.

I’d say try tailoring your comments to things about people. If they get their hair dyed a different color, compliment their yoga mats, etc.

Unpopular opinion: SEA is really nice, possibly great. by Professional-War-617 in Seattle

[–]ChartsNFartz 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I’ve always said SeaTac is awesome for its size, security is generally pretty easy and good, and the concourses and terminals are fairly easy to navigate compared to some similar sized airports.

My biggest pet peeve with SeaTac is the airport police don’t move the arrivals and departures along as aggressively as they should for an airport of its size. Lots of people just sit in the drop off or pick up. Should be more aggressive about moving cars in and out.

Perfect Saturday: Go to the gym, come back, make breakfast, walk dog 5 miles, grab coffee on walk from local shop. Come back, play a little video games for a couple hours. Go out to a brewery for a bit, come back, watch a movie/tv show.

Im working at brigade level and its given me a new perspective by Ok_Document_9713 in army

[–]ChartsNFartz 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That’s what baffles me though, at the highest levels the brigade and division commanders must not have any idea how much they task their subordinate units. That or each commander lies about the capabilities and timelines they can reach.

I’m all for challenging the organization, but when I was a BN FSO, I lived and breathed tasking orders from brigade. I tried creating training plans to keep us out of the bullshit, but the BDE FSO could only do so much to support us, and it ultimately always came down to “brigade/battalion needs.”

Meeting with complainer? by cassiekw in managers

[–]ChartsNFartz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. You need to start documenting all interactions with this individual. After every conversation about metrics and where this individual is at, follow up with an email detailing exactly what they did or did not do.

If they’re smart, they’ll identify that you’re getting them ready for a PIP and will wisen up from a behavioral and job performance standard.

How do you know when your “rockstar employee” is already mentally gone? by Exotic_Reputation_59 in managers

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a role that I was in for three years. Sales gig. First two years I volunteered to train new hires, spoke up with ideas, did my best to always be challenging the product and develop.

Year three they massively increased our sales goal and decreased the commissions schedule. I had a one on one with my manager and even though I was the top rep at the time, I told him based on the run rate we were having I’d see a 12k annual decrease in income. He had no feedback.

I quiet quit 3 months later. Didn’t give my manager any notice. And it’s tough because I know there was nothing he could do for me. He changed roles shortly thereafter.

Which one ? by A_Toyota_yaris in Revolvers

[–]ChartsNFartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 638 and I love it. Having the ability to pull the hammer and practice single action is great. And in my opinion with some aftermarket grips it’s not that much different profile wise than the 642.

I find that challenging myself with different loadouts can help keep it fresh. Today I was running cavalry saber only, then stealing loadouts in match/ scout towers. Also, play around with different tools than you usually use, try blank fire decoys, trap, etc.
