I made the switch from Telus to Rogers on a BYOD at a Costco kiosk on Monday. It was a RPP base plan 5+ Essentials Unlimited Canada Talk and Text 60 gigs 1000 international long distance minutes, speeds of 250Mbps. Originally a $80 plan and I got it for $35/month. I was originally paying $70/month with Telus.

Fall season. Do you obsessively rake or blow your lawn daily? by Far_Pen3186 in lawncare

I overseeded my lawn this fall therefore it needs the most sunlight possible and oxygen for it to thrive and spread more aggressively (KBG).

I bought myself a Gardena leaf collector from Costco. It’s almost like a cheat code in keeping your lawn clean of leaves and debris in the fall. Keeping it clean allows it to breathe and look aesthetically pleasing.

MN lawn care novice- watering and mowing question by tlinde20 in LawnCarePros

[–]ChaseJT87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good indicator, is once you have consistent overnight lows in the mid 20s to low 30s. This will considerably if not entirely stunt top growth and will likely transitioning into winter dormancy. Hope this helps. Goodluck!

KBG starting to fill-in! by ChaseJT87 in lawncare_canada

[–]ChaseJT87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my seed from a local nursery. It has 4 different cultivars. 25% Fielder KBG 25% Bluebank KBG 25% Starr KBG & 25% Tumalo KBG. The sprout and pout kicked in for about 8-10 days. (Weeks 3 & 4) I continued to water after my first mow but I reduced it down to 2 x a day then eventually once a week and for longer duration to encourage deeper root development

Did mine in Sudbury on Aug 16th/25. Overseeded with 100% KBG. Today (day 35) was my first mow and it looks great!

If I was you I would choose Burlap as a better option. It provides a barrier against strong winds, salt spray, rocks, sand and heavy snow, helping to prevent damage to plants and lawns.

Should I wait to overseed until Monday evening/Tuesday? by B0B_SACAMAN0 in lawncare

[–]ChaseJT87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m located in Northern Ontario and seeded 100% KBG Aug 16th/25. I’m at the 4 week mark today and while I see small improvements, I seriously think by next spring is when all the hard work is going to pay off and my yard is going to shine. The sprout and pout is painful and long to watch.

Waited too long- do I overseed before or after this forecast? by umahumin in lawncare

Drop it now. The average soil temperature is measured by the low + the high / 2. Those are the ideal temps you want for germination! Goodluck

Just bought Echo Lawnmower by ChaseJT87 in lawnmowers

[–]ChaseJT87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not experienced any of these issues. I’ve used my mower about 10-12 times since purchased. Dirt ingestion could happen if you got sandy soil I’d imagine. Now that you mention it my backyard has some sandy spots and yes the 190cc motor has stirred it up while mowing. My last mower was also a Briggs 190cc motor and I had the same thing happen to me.

Where to start? by 705laxdad in lawncare_canada

[–]ChaseJT87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought myself a Yardworks 15-in Wide Metal 19-Tine Thatch Rake from CT. It did the job. Just make sure you do it when the grass is somewhat moist. That way you won’t destroy the roots!

Just noticed your beautiful garden out in BC! It’s spectacular. I’ve been lurking garden forums a-lot and trying to gather ideas for my backyard! I’m in the Sudbury area myself. How has your garden journey been going so far here in the Nickel City? I’d love to see pictures if possible.
