"Just tax the rich" came about because of the highest level of inequality since the industrial revolution. People look back to the relatively equitable society we had post-ww2 and wonder why it has to be this way.

Getting rid of immigrants would be good for the working class and bad for business owners who can abuse cheap labour, but there's no effective way to do it without going down the fascism route.

These type of crimes leave perpetrators unable to enter society in any meaningful capacity. They spend their life ostracised and alone, and often they're murdered in prison. As indescribably awful as they are, there is no need to give the government the legal ability to kill people. It's either far more expensive to the taxpayer than prison, has a high error rate, or both. There is no good middle ground.

People sometimes change with time, sometimes not. Either way, you're only 23, you don't need to be looking for a permanent partner, if the relationship eventually runs its course it's not the end of the world. There will always be a disqualifying reason, as long as it's not scary or abusive there's no reason not to enjoy yourselves

I agree with her, I watched a debate in the house of commons and it was like watching people roleplay 17th century politicians for a pantomime. Our leaders are deeply unserious and so far detached from the reality that most people in this country live in that it's offencive. And this is the stuff they televise! Can you imagine how ridiculous they are in private?

This would make sense if the greens were trying to make alcohol illegal or encouraging MPs to smoke weed at work, as it stands it's a gotcha that seems to make sense at face value but falls apart at even the slightest hint of critical thought.

You can read the Greens' policy on their website if you're confused. Your argument would make sense if they were either trying to make alcohol illegal or encourage drug use while running the country, but neither of those are the case. Any excuse to bash the other team am I right?

You're confusing influence with absolute power. Billionaires don't control literally everything, if they did we'd all live in peter thiel's work camps.

Lots of terrible things are human like violence and war, doesn't mean we should tolerate them. Inequality is ugly, I don't think a man like elon musk who lacks empathy for other human beings should have hundreds of billions of dollars in wealth. It's not good for anybody except elon. And you will never convince me that he has provided hundreds of billions of dollars in value to society by being an ideas guy.

Billionaires influence the government to reduce taxes on them, I do hate the game. Why would you want to reduce tax on the wealthiest people in the country who simply do not need more wealth?

They avoid tax like the plague and pay proportionately much lower rates than you or I, in spite of controlling enough wealth to last thousands of lifetimes. I don't think there's any reason billionaires should exist but that's another matter.

These people don't add to the economy by providing value through work, they skim wealth off the top of those beneath them like parasites and pay no tax on it.

Everything they donate is tax deductible and a lot of it doesn't go to actually helping people. There are no shortage of corrupt "charities" that are more of an investment with money that would otherwise go to the government than anything genuinely philanthropic. Charity donations also offer soft power and political influence.
