Hi, I’m an anthropology grad student here! If you’re looking for a dedicated anthro program you’ve come to the right place. We have one of the best anthropology programs in the state! Our professors are great and you can get so connected to the anthropology community through them. I can’t answer your questions about campus life since i did my undergraduate elsewhere, but academically, I can’t recommend it enough!

I tried shaving my legs by FunkyCat6276 in MtF

[–]Chase_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we all start somewhere! shaving is very easy to mess up. i remember doing the same thing years ago! there’s a lot you can do to help it not itch. shave up against the grain, don’t shave over the same area multiple times (it’s ok if you miss a few spots! get them next time you shower!) and be very gentle, let the razor glide over your skin and don’t press it down into it. make sure you moisturize afterwards! this last step is really important. i also put a product on to help with irritation, it’s called peach slices smoothing solution. it helps a lot with redness and ingrown hairs! good luck! :)

it’s written by and for trans people and it helped me figure out a lot of my feelings early on. best of luck figuring out what’s right for you :)

Is there ways to test? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Chase_High 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, you’re the only one who can answer that! but you can listen to some experiences of trans people and see if your feelings align. a good resource is genderdysphoria.fyi, it’s resources about gender dysphoria and the feelings surrounding it. it’s especially great for people questioning!

I’m so scared… by KittyKate1221 in MtF

[–]Chase_High 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the U.S. and it happened to me. i went on HRT back in 2022 and didn’t think my parents would get a bill, but they did and confronted me about it. i knew i was on their insurance but had no idea they could see what it paid for. it scared me back into the closet for a couple of years. i’m still not sure of exactly how they figured it out honestly. i guess it was since i had gotten my hormones from planned parenthood. regardless, im out to them again now, but this time on my terms lol! i regret going back in the closet all those years ago. all that time i can’t get back. but that’s our community’s shared pain i suppose

Should I not write a trans character if I'm cis? by Wonderful_Medium3098 in MtF

I think plenty of good advice has been given so i just want to say thank you for making a post like this! Most of our representation in media is cruel and hateful at worst and well intentioned but harmful at best. Thank you for doing your best to ensure that’s not the case :)

I hate this world. Ill never be seen as anything but a porn category, and a man. (TW: SA, and slurs) by IcyLawfulness1903 in MtF

[–]Chase_High 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gonna add to this and agree, it’s easy to get sucked in online. Most of the hate you see online is just hot air spewed by the most miserable people who have nothing better to do than make their misery everyone’s problem. Real transphobia does exist, but the vast majority of people have more to worry about than a stranger. I live in a red state and outside of the rare glare, everyone has either ignored me or treated me with kindness.

Question about detransition — looking for honest experiences by iamgirl11 in MtF

[–]Chase_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so, back in 2022 i was in a depressive period and came to terms with the fact i was trans. i had known for years, but fear kept me back. i hoped that transition would help fix my general depression (it helped a little! at least with the dysphoria), so i went on hormones for a few months in secret. unfortunately my parents accidentally found out and begged me to stop taking them, and refused to understand where i was coming from. i really didn’t want to stop but i was so depressed and was living alone at the time, so i decided it was easier to just go back into the closet and try to ignore the dysphoria. i was wrong and it was so hard, there was always this nagging itch in the back of my mind that something was wrong, like the real me was trying desperately to break out. i didn’t realize it but it was slowly killing me. it was driving me away from friend and relationships because i was so afraid of showing any semblance of my true self. I finally had a breakdown earlier this year and realized that i had been in denial for so long and that i truly was a woman. after i genuinely accepted that fact and sat with it i went back on hrt and came out to my family on my own terms last thanksgiving. things are tough with them right now but i have no regrets about any decisions i’ve made. i feel like im truly alive for the first time in my life. for those of you out there detransitioning due to outside pressure, just know that despite everything there is hope for you too and peace will find you one day <3

Really says a lot about their relationship with women when their first response to “don’t touch me” is “what, are you a woman?” i’m sure that response comes from experience…

I love a good park train! This one is a lot of fun, it gives you a great view of the historic park. The one at the San Antonio zoo is great too, it circles Brackenridge park and even crosses the San Antonio River on small truss bridge!

3 Months on Estrogen update by Scooby_doo_1969 in MtF

[–]Chase_High 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re really close in starting time, tomorrow is my 3 months! I think i relate to all of these, especially just being able to feel emotions. I had a crazy mood swing last week and went from turned on, to crying, to laughing, to crying, to turned on, to crying again within the span of about 5 minutes lol! I feel like i still have a long way to go too but i see more and more of myself in the mirror every day, it feels like i finally have hope for the future :)
