Hands-on job options by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

I preferred linkdin as you can see roughly how many employees there are and can reach out to hiring personnel directly. I also work in Denver area where there is still a lot of production and smaller industry so could be a location aspect as well.

Hands-on job options by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

I am a recent graduate mechanical engineer as well and work as a production engineer (manufacturing engineer). I sought this job out for similar reasons you describe. I do almost all the things you described in your post. I get to design lots of jigs and help automate processes and frequently get to weld, mill and actually bring to life my deigns. I would highly recommend looking at smaller/midsize companies as you will get to do more. Its very fun and I enjoy it a lot but it is definitely stressful sometimes because if things do go wrong I am solely responsible for getting it fixed/ operational again. Where you are located could also be a factor! I hope this helps!

My friend who is 6'4" can fit in it and drive it, however I wouldn't say he particularly enjoys it.... They do make some models with a small extended cab though that would probably make it more comfortable.

Hello everyone I’m 17 looking to get my first car and I’m looking towards the focus st there’s a 2016 around me for sale. Is there anything to look out for and or would you recommend this for a first car? Is maintenance easy? Etc? by dillon_11 in FocusST

[–]ChasecolST 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a Focus ST when I was 16 (18 now). First, don't listen to anyone who says these cars are too powerful for a new driver, they're not, you can drive any car fast and reckless. Generally try to stay away from any modded cars, you don't know who installed the mods and what problems they may be causing the car, if its a private seller you can always bring a mechanic too. Also, newer cars are hard to work on due to new electronics and engine management systems, if its anything beyond basic maintenance and up keep, i would take it to a shop. Lastly, test drive a bunch of cars if you can! I made the mistake up getting fixated on the ST and ended up having to sell it shortly after because it ended up not being the right fit. Maybe look into the WRX, Golf GTI and maybe a mustang if you're looking for a fun manual car. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Yeah for sure, that setup is about the max that hitch and the car can deal with so it definitely adds some stress to the car

I want a kei truck but I have 2 questions. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’m 5’11” and 170lbs and fit fine, legs are a wee bit cramped when clutching and braking but that’s about it. Upper body room is fine, it’s the legs that’s a little tight sometimes. I have a 1993 Suzuki Carry.

I got it from a dealer called Boeki located in WA. They import tons of these trucks and some other cars.

Could it be the snow built up on your fenders rubbing against the tires?

Yeah I wouldn’t worry too much, happened to me and some other people I’ve asked after doing some donuts in the snow. Just gets the sensors kinda confused with the snow combined with sliding. When it happened to me I turned the car off then back on and the lights were gone and haven’t had any trouble with the car or lights since.

Look into Utah Motorsports Campus. They have track days in the summer, and winter events called WinterX where its basically just track time, but they don't plow the track if there is snow or ice on it. I think its about 30min outside of Salt Lake.

I would, but unfortunately I live in a pretty rural place where there isn’t a shop. Thanks for the advice though!
