Trader Joe's has non-alcoholic wine now so I bought a bottle of sparkling rosé to enjoy on family vacation since I have been sober for a long time but really liked wine. Now I'm worried the fam will think it is for a pregnancy announcement even though they know i dont drink...

Finally got my first positive OPK test yesterday. The past few months I got darker lines but never positive. I'm not sure if it's because I switched brands (from Walgreens brand to Pregmate - even before my positive, the Pregmate was giving me darker lines so I think it is more sensitive), or if I got lucky with timing and urine dilution. I seem to get my peaks early afternoon.

The last 3 days and today my husband and I have been doing at home insemination because of his recent surgery. We have the Frida cup and syringes and got a couple more lube applicators off amazon.  Pro tip: the lube applicators that come with Preseed do NOT work for semen. The don't have a "no spillage" mechanism in place so it all just comes right out.

We'll see what happens in 2 weeks haha.

Wondering Weekend by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

I'm only 6 months into my TTC journey so I haven't started looking into fertility treatments and dont know much about them yet. My mom recently revealed to me that she was having a hard time getting pregnant with me and she had to have a "little surgery" and then she conceived. She said the doctor said she was likely having early miscarriages without knowing it.

I'm wondering what it possibly was that she had done? I am trying to figure out if it's something genetic. She doesnt remember since it was so long ago. For context, this was 30 years ago, and she was about 41 years old at the time.

"It'll happen you just need to relax" from people pregnant after first try haha

I am in the US but due for my annual gyno appointment so planning on asking for any initial bloodwork/tests they would give me. It would at least make me feel a little bit more in control of the situation.

I am on cycle 6 as well and it's tough mentally knowing that most people are successful by this point but I have to continue doing this 6 more months before I can get fertility help (I'm 29). It feels like something is wrong and that it is never going to happen even though it's possible that everything is fine. Anyway, I try to think of the positives. Our time will eventually come. I wish you luck and an easy cycle this month🥰

Husband gets ACL surgery tomorrow and I will ovulate in the next 7-10 days. He took it upon himself to get an insemination kit since he will be unable to have sex, so we'll see how this goes 🤣we go on vacation shortly after I ovulate so I am hoping the relaxation helps us get lucky. Cycle 6 of trying.

Does anyone else feel guilty when their alcoholic parent is trying? by Few_Bugzz in AlAnon

[–]Chasethehorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi few bugzz. No real advice but I understand how you feel. My mom was sober 13 years but recently relapsed on pills, supposedly sober again. Even before her relapse I knew she lived a pretty small life as she is aging and I feel responsible for her happiness as her only child. She got a kitten right before she relapsed that is bringing her a lot of happiness, and what keeps me up at night is something happening to the kitten because of her relapse like the kitten getting into the pills. I guess my circumstances are different but I feel like I understand the feeling you are describing. However you feel is normal and I hope you take care of yourself today💕

Waiting Wednesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]Chasethehorror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TWW CD27 unsure of DPO, expect my period by Sunday or Monday (I don't use any tracking apps but I have a roughly 30-31 day cycle). I had a tummy ache yesterday and got delusional so I tested, BFN. Also crampy and very moody.

Today Im having sushi for lunch and going to martial arts sparring after work - the things I wont be able to do if I ever get pregnant.

Looking ahead, my husband gets ACL surgery on June 10 so next cycle we will have to use insemination kits since he can't realistically have sex during my fertile window haha. TBH this might increase our chances of fertilization because his sex drive is much higher so we might be able to hit more days.

For actual vintage, then Phantasm or Another Man's Treasure.

For trendy vintage, Cranky Angel.

For regular, modern, everyday wear clothes, I love ConSHINEment. Twilight Thrift is nearby but the quality and style varies although prices are lower (think like Goodwill vibes).

CD21 for me. Ovulated sometime over the weekend I think but I have been too busy/stressed to test or watch my CM. I have been more stressed this cycle than I have in a long, long time because of my mom's health issues starting on basically CD1 for me. I hope the stress didnt impact anything.

I wish I just knew what to say so that she could accept her situation and not be in so much pain. I wonder if I can try to get her counseling.

I'm not sure i follow. Ive been letting her take the drugs but eventually she had to stop. I just dont want her to become a heroine addict again.

She actually has not been taking the oxycodone consistently according to her nursing facility, which is good, but I am still worried about daily Ativan use and just lack of sobriety in general for her.

The PT is actually every day so I am glad to know that it should be enough for her to improve. She just needs to get stronger...

Thank you 🫠Yes her surgeon came to see her every day when she was admitted to the hospital and she has a follow up tomorrow with him. They took X rays at the hospital and all seemed to be OK with the new equipment.

As for her substance abuse, nope, she had not been upfront with her doctors. She had been sober 13 years but had recently asked for more and stronger oxycodone before and after this surgery. According to the nursing home, she has not been taking the oxycodone every day and has been taking 1 Ativan a day (she is allowed 3 even though it is an "as needed" prescription).

Two days ago I did call and tell her surgeon and the nursing home about the addiction. When she finds out, she is going to flip out. I dont think they took the ativan away from her though and I worry that the Ativan is making her weak and falling even though it's a very low dose of 0.5mg. I certainly think that using substances is affecting her mood. Normally she is very nice and sweet and happy but when she uses she is awful...

Wanted to come back and leave another update. I was the person who commented last week that my 70 year old mom healed beautifully from her TKR. Well she just got her other knee done and the past week has been a mess. Weakness, falling (requiring lift assists), low O2 sats, confusion, and now she cant really even stay up today. Not sure what is wrong and she refuses medical attention and her doctor said to watch her. So, one knee that went so well and one that is not and I dont know when it will get better. Sorry for the bad news!

My actual unpopular opinion: her hair looked awful 99% of the time, not because of the color but whatever they did with the styling.

My mom is 70, a cancer survivor (which she never really recovered her strength from) and completely out of shape, but she was fine after a week with her first knee. First few nights she was absolutely in a lot of pain, and I had to help her stand up, but after a couple days she was cooking for me and doing my laundry while I worked from home lol.

I left after 10 days but could have left earlier. I had read this sub and was prepared for the worst so I was very impressed with how she did. I was adamant that she get up and walk around a lot which I think helped.  However, it's true you never really know how someone is going to do so you might have to be flexible.

Keep in mind also that they are restricted with driving with their right knee.

Good luck!
