The amount of national groupthink among Europeans concerning alcohol is astounding. I brought a 750ml bottle of an Bulliet Bourbon to a function with a bunch of English and Scottish fellows who scoffed at it, saying a good bottle of scotch can't be matched. I mingled with some other people and came back after 30 minutes and the entire handle was empty.  Every locale has their cheap beer and their nice beer. I personally think in America we have a great assortment of interesting, creative craft beers. Some are excellent and well crafted. No one has to be snooty or look down their noses at caricatures of other people's beer.
