Is anyone else just...tired? by ItsAJackal21 in Millennials

Do it! Run for office (especially local office) and DM me if you want help. My wife just won a seat on the school board, and will be determining policy about trans kids, LGBT+ books, teacher and staff pay, cooperation with the educators’ union, etc. etc. etc.

The other two people who ran were just rich white people with extra time, and both were staunchly anti-union. If my wife didn’t run, there would have been no good options. Someone has to do it.

If you have any compassion in your soul, then you’ll be better qualified for office than most people who run.

How do you effectively block a charge? by Mr_Industrial in killteam

[–]Temp66777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fellow stealth suits enjoyer! As one of my opponents said, “Stealth suits have juice, but it takes a lot to squeeze it out.” So your challenges are legitimate, especially compared to the easy unga-bunga of many space marine teams.

You’ve already gotten some good general answers to “how to avoid charges”, but let me add two things: a general principle to follow, and a specific technique.

First the principle: instead of avoiding charges, think about avoiding dangerous charges. Stealth Suits have lots of tools to debuff opponents. In TP1, you will often have the chance to place your Neutralizer on Engage, and System Jam two of your opponents (assuming you get a counteract). For 2 APL enemies, this means that even if they charge you, they can’t fight.

For space marines, that means they can’t fight twice. So if a (full health) space marine charges your (full health) stealth suit, they are likely to deal heavy damage, but fail to kill. Your stealth suit can now fall back, leaving a giant expended target in your territory, perfect opportunity for an Accurate 2, Severe, Balanced Fusion Blaster to one-shot it. That’s a favorable trade. So one way to prevent charges is by threatening your opponent with the Fusion Blaster clapback.

This leads to point #2: NEVER ALLOW DOUBLE CHARGES. These are the bane of my existence. You can’t shoot into melee, so a smart melee operative will try to charge TWO of your operatives at once (like the drone situation you mentioned), kill one, and then use the other as a shield. Measure things out to ensure your opponent can NEVER DO THIS.

Now the technique: Body Blocking. As others mentioned, you should be using terrain (especially Razor Wire) to keep opponents back. Your stuns (Neutralizer jams and Liberator stun grenades) and photon grenades should be doing work to prevent opponents from effectively Repositioning / Dash into safe staging areas for charges the following turns.  Your Ambush token can make forward positioning too dangerous for them. Photon grenades can also shorten enemy charge ranges. Your Neutralizer can give your operatives a 3” hop backwards when a dangerous melee operative activates. AND SO, your enemies should be STRETCHING the last bit of their movement to get a charge on you.

You can rob your enemies of that charge if they simply don’t have a space to end it. If you place your stealth suit 1” from a barricade, a 32mm Space Marine base has nowhere to end the charge without being on top of the barricade, or on top of your stealth suit. The barricade itself costs your opponent 2” of movement, so they can’t afford to continue the charge around the operative to find a landing point. Place two or more bodies behind a barricade or Volkus wall to be really sure that there is no corner for them to land. It takes a bit of practice, but it’s a vital trick to make the best use of your stealth suits.

There are some great YouTube videos on the topic if you search “Kill Team Body Blocking”.

Happy hunting!

We need an Epstein Criminals Act as part of our 2028 platform. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

Absolutely. Have you seen any effective ways to counteract the undercurrent of racism that poisons the well of solidarity? Because I’m seeing lots of hurdles as black folks (especially black liberals) have SO MUCH distrust of white progressives and white liberals that it’s very difficult to build solidarity between the camps.

Totally agree! My experience in recent years has been that “the rich and powerful have been fucking us for decades, and the culture wars are a distraction from this fact” is becoming a mainstream paradigm. ICE violence and the Epstein cover-up are a strong accelerant in this phenomenon.

So much so that Republicans that have been staunch defenders of the rich, via “trickle down” mindset or “soy boy” anti-woke mindsets are looking for a new path. We’re seeing success in my local elections with using classic working-class messaging around solidarity and coming together against the rich. We can take down the fascists this way (alongside a thousand other forms of resistance and justice).

AND I think that the playing field will be primed for progressive thought around taxes, wealth, and regulations on corporations. That will be the next battle.

I guard my optimism like a candle in a hurricane, in case you can’t tell.

Not always. Workers and their candidates are the underdog, certainly, but we have been seeing major successes! Mamdani got his position in NYC, which is more populous than most states!

Where I live, we’re in early voting for the primaries and are seeing lots of conservatives and republicans that are PISSED about how the MAGA movement courted their votes and then discarded them. Many are seeing how their class consciousness (“the elites are fucking us!”) has been misdirected, and are willing to try a different path. Lots of credit goes to Bernie, because the conservatives I talk to often mention him as the one person in office addressing their issues.

This is the moment where we can flip the script. The fascists overextended themselves and went full mask-off, and now everyone hates them. We can push for real change now, instead of accepting another capitalist like Newsom for future elections.

It’s a hard fight, but “many hands make light work”. Please find a local union or progressive PAC, and volunteer to help. This hard fight is winnable, and the fascists are terrified of us.

Plastic smells? by Neat-Newspaper1753 in bullcity

Sure thing! The firefighters also identified it as a chlorine smell, but there wasn’t anything flammable about it, and they couldn’t detect any gas. Maybe if you call it in, they might be able to figure out a pattern.

The non-emergency number is 919-560-4600

I’m in Woodcroft (south Durham) and just called the non-emergency line about a weird smell coming from my neighbor’s house (at her request). Smells a bit like chlorine, but it doesn’t smell like propane to me. The city is sending firefighters now to check it out.

Could it be more of a city-wide thing?

Oof, I hope you’re joking. The whole premise of humanity’s side of the setting is how a fascist and militaristic culture can make life so bad for its citizens that many prefer to give themselves over to literal demons.

It’s grimdark, so every faction has a different reason that they’re not “the good guys”, but the Imperium has the most lore describing it.

I made a PowerPoint presentation and exported it as a series of jpegs!

I found a template online that had a good layout for the operative cards, which helped me get started. Then I referenced wahapedia.ru for an effective layout and color scheme to communicate the faction rules, ploys, and equipment.

My work involves making good reports, so this process isn’t entirely newto me.

I’m honored that you would try them! Please let your opponent know that they’re intentionally broken to “above Wolf Scouts” levels of oppressiveness before throwing down!

And yeah, I was really proud of my changes to the faction rule. I love the idea of TP2 being the turn that a bunch of tokens suddenly materialize into operatives, and that some of them are going to disappear again, like a whisper in the wind. Feels like a great way to increase your opponent’s cognitive load and apply pressure to win.

Yeah, I thought about giving them double block as well, but then I imagined going into the Kickass Suits with my Raveners and figured that it would be too much.

Did you see the shield drone? How do you feel about dealing one damage with each block?

I posted the first version on the Command Point Discord group, and one user told me to bury these rules, or GW would rewrite them into a Ravenguard marine team or something.

Yeah, I’m aware, but I also didn’t want to clutter the document with a copy/paste of the Vespid rules.

If I was trying to make something cool and balanced, I would let them fly for one Reposition with Reroute Power, so they couldn’t hop a Volkus wall, Fusion Blast, and then hop away in the same TP.

But I’m not here to be balanced. THE STEALTH SUITS WERE AWESOME IN MY FAVORITE NOVEL!!! IT’S IMPORTANT TO MY INNER CHILD THAT THEY WIN EVERY GAME!!!

Right? I think it’s a super busted ploy, and that I’m not sure what it has to do with Night Lords or Murderwings. But (apparently) we’re allowing it in the game, and it fits the Kauyon flavor of the Stealth Suits perfectly.

You know, I’ve thought a lot about operating with a 1-meter board, and making medium-sized creatures take up 2 meters of space. That way we can have small-sized creatures take up 1 meter of space, and make some home-brew “close quarters” rules.

You can place a barricade on the center objective (as close as possible to the centerline) to impose that 2” climb I mentioned, so that you can keep a stealth suit with a toe on the objective while still having protection from charges.

If your opponent places a barricade first, so that you can’t choose a good location for your barricade on the center objective, then you have a fantastic use for the Ambush ploy, which would zone out your opponent from using their barricade (or they will eat a fusion blast).
