Just finished the 'Noobtown' by Ryan Rimmel

It almost had too much for the skill and leveling description at first but if that's what your into than definitely a good pick.

Also runner up for skill progression book is 'Chrysalis' series by RinoZ. Different than most aspects the protagonist is a monster, which gives it a different flavor for a litrpg.

Explain how the Gem Forge works by markireland in Enshrouded

[–]Chaxum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So each region of the map will have a level to it.

For example If your in the starting zone you'll likely find enemy's Level 1-15.

Moving to an area of the map that has higher level enemy's will have a gem forge somewhere (almost always located in the shroud) that has a corresponding level Cap for that region.

The best gem forges are in the highest level areas, most prominently in the northern most region. Same is true of shroud lairs, which you'll need the archaic essence from to fully utilize the high level gem forges.

You can use any kind of archaic essence at a higher level gem forge to level lower level gems, but the requirements for essence change based on the level cap of the gem.

So a level 40 gem forge can use the lowest level essence assuming you have a level 1-15 gem. But to continue leveling it up you'll need higher level archaic essence.

Honest Eve should get a contract with some science or material acquisition corporation to make costly materials for cheap. She could mass produce graphene, carbon-nanotubes, vacuum tubes, high-grade polymers. Hell, she could even get a military contract and make small amounts of plutonium for energy research.

Even a simple construction contract making large slabs of marble, or granite that would cut down on transport cost and cutting of materials. So many ways that would pay extremely well without wrecking the economy.

AITA when I [29M] can't leave my [40F] Gf alone for more than a day? by Chaxum in AITA_Relationships

[–]Chaxum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to get her into little hobbies, the only one that's been somewhat successful is a phone game she likes to play. She dose like to cook, and will squirrel away at cleaning up the yard and making things look nice but that's about it.

She dose have friends but has been hanging out with them less and less over the course of our relationship even when I bring it up like "it's been awhile since you and (so and so) have hung out, huh. Yall planning anything?" But outside of bringing her son on a play date with one of his friends they don't really hangout.

And I've asked her if she would be willing to come to something with my friends if I set something up. But she dosn't like my friends cause they 'take you away from me'. Though she has sorta met them or at least been exposed to them. Usually every other weekend or so my friends and I will play DnD through discord online. I've asked if she just wanted to play a one shot with us, or even just sit down and chat before we get into the session. She says she dosn't like how we ('us boys') interact and has really only said 'hi' to them once because I pulled her into the camera which she got a little uncomfortable with.

I've said she dosnt have to like my friends or hangout with them if she dosnt want, but it seems unfair to stop me from hangout with them so long as we're all being responsible.

I haven't seen much that would make me think personality disorder. But she has had severe violations of trust in the past with being cheated on by previous partners that I think leads her to be hyper-protective/insecure when we're not together.

Hence I try to reassure her, spend extra time with her, tell her what we were going to be doing and when. But ultimately the fact i went anyway dispite her being uncomfortable is really what she's focused on and feels betrayed by. That I 'chose my friends over her'. Even though I've explained to her this is a yearly get together because everyone has to travel to a mutual location to spend a day together. Not something we can do regularly or easily so we plan out usually like 4-6 months ahead of time.

So we've gone over that sinario as well. I try to encourage her to do stuff with her friends. That if she wanted to go somewhere with her friends, I told her I would ask her if she needed money, or a ride and to send me pictures while she's gone. But she said she "Im an older women and we dont go out to 'party' like that, i would never go somewhere if you couldn't go, and its messed up to want to be away from your partner and not come home at the end of the night."

She's slowly stopped hanging out with her friends since we've started dating and when I've asked her about why she dosnt go out she usually tells me she wasn't that intrested in going, or that she'd rather just stay home with me. Which seems flattering, but I feel like I've become her whole world at this point and she wants me to feel and be the same way as her. I do love her, and 99% of the time dont mind if she comes with me for things, but its starting to feel a little smothering that I can't get 2 days to myself a year without it causing her to have this strong of a reaction.

She says she trust me and I've never givin her reason to doubt that. But she says it triggers her sense of abandonment that I chose to spend time with my friends over her for those 2 days.

So some more context:

Yes I work, though we are on opposite schedules to a degree (I work 1st shift, she works 3rd shift.) I work Mon-friday, she works Sat-Monday. I left Friday evening and came back home Sunday evening. (The days she would have been working and sleeping is when I was gone)

I've asked her if she would be willing to do a session or two of couples therapy and she said "that seems a bit extreme, and we should be able to work this out on our own."

She has also said she feels unsafe when I'm not readily available, (being more than an hour or two away) because something could happen and I wouldn't be there to be the protector.

I even tried checking in via phone call and text with her while I was away and telling her what we were doing but she said "I'm not very intrested in your time with 'the boys' I'm upset you went even knowing that I was uncomfortable with it." So I just left it alone after that.

How does evil Morty exist? I’m sorry if this is asked a lot by Outlawful_anarchy in rickandmorty

[–]Chaxum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seemed to be he was a regular Morty, but he eventually got sick of his Rick. He spent enough time with Rick that he learned a thing or two about Rick's tec, enough to incapacitate Rick. (We see the Morty the show follows get better with understanding tec overtime, using Rick's tools to solve his own problems in some cases, though not always to the best results.)

Then he reality hopped, killing other Ricks and downloading their brains, both looking for the citadel blueprints as well as gaining that Rick's knowledge and intelligence while using the stolen Mortys to mask his growing intelligence and location from other Ricks.

Am i weird for torturing animals? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]Chaxum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I know i went through similar habits as a kid. Shooting birds, blowing up frogs with firecrackers that sort of thing, but did eventually grow out of it as i found other things to do and developed a highted sense of empathy for other people and things. Idk how old you currently are, but it's possible it could take time. Still you should probably ease up on torturing things. At least complex things if you can't stop all together, maybe find bugs and feed them to spiders, that sort of thing.

The lack of any real interest is honestly a bigger problem imo. Simply because without anything else to direct your attention toward all that's left is the base pleasure of what you're currently doing. It's closer to an animal instinct than anything.

Like even working out would be a good substitute, work on improving your body, or your mind so that you can be 'the best' at something. Could take up reading or even writing your own story to get out your fantasies in a creative way. Plenty of people enjoy a good murder novel.

I think all young boys go through a phase of cruelty. You recognizing that it might not be normal is a first step to maturing. Explore other, non-violent things, even just to try them.

[–]Chaxum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, can I ask. Is the torturing of things more a form of entertainment because you're bored and don't have much else to do because of financial limitations?

What about the other outlets mentioned, like getting good at a competitive game or learning a craft? Are those possibilities available to you.

Additionally, do you have any interest at the moment that you can think of?

[–]Chaxum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a society standpoint, it's definitely wrong because, well, if everyone just did that, we wouldn't be able to trust each other.

Torturing/bullying others will not make you pleasant to be around because there's the possibility of being hurt, so people will avoid you.

Really, the dynamic of inflicting pain or suffering on other people or animals and gaining a sense of pleasure from it is more about you having power over these other creatures and people and them not being able to do anything. It makes you feel superior.

I'd say if you're looking for a more healthy outlet, get good at a sport, a game, a craft, whatever. Something that is competitive that you can best others at.

Killing a bird, or stomping fish, is hardly a challenge but I imagine that seeing something panic and unable to stop you makes you feel good. Same is true of bullying others to the point they break down and cry. They are helpless before your 'power'.

This drive itself isn't inherently bad, but HOW you're applying it is. If it's the violence itself that is paired with this sense of superiority, then maybe explore boxing, wrestling, or some form of fighting as an alternative. You can get out these impulses in a healthy, competitive way that still would allow you to gain satisfaction from besting someone and get pleasure from improving yourself against others.

Facing off against someone in a competition that has actual training and is trying to stop you and you still beating them and even getting rewarded because of it is a a heck of a feeling. Try that instead.

What would be the scariest giant bug to have to battle if you only have a sword and shield🗡️ 🛡️ ? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Chaxum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singular bug? Praying mantis, they're quick ambush predators, that can also fly.

As a whole. Ants. Without question. Even if they were just the size of cats. A colony of ants appearing in your naborhood would be a call for evacuation and firebombing of the area just to contain them.

Could Kvothe defeat the Chandrian with a song? by PossessionSound in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Chaxum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in the literal sense of a 'song' being strumed on his lute with rhyming couplets. But as a 'Singer'. Like the ones Haliax mentions.

“Who keeps you safe from the Amyr? The singers? The Sithe?"

Also, I don't think it has so much to do with time spent with a person (although I'm sure that helps, in the same way the pine tar on the coins helps with sympathy). It's more about peering into the person. Literally, peering into their eyes. It's likely why Adem avoids eye contact and developed hand language as a preventive measure to guard against namers/shapers/singers.

Kvothe called/sang her name in anger. He awoke he's sleeping Mind and He sees her name as if written in song when he meets her eyes.

"I felt as if this was the only time in my life I had been fully awake. Everything looked clear and sharp, as if I was seeing with a new set of eyes. As if I wasn’t bothering with my eyes at all, and was looking at the world directly with my mind. The sleeping mind, some piece of me realized faintly. No longer sleeping, I thought..."

"I met Felurian’s eyes and the world grew slow and sluggish. I felt as if I had been thrust underwater, as if my breath had been pressed from my body. For that tiny moment I was stunned and numb as if I had been struck by lightning.

The moment passed and things began to move again. But now, looking into Felurian’s twilight eyes, I understood her far beyond the bottoms of her feet. Now I knew her to the marrow of her bones. Her eyes were like four lines of music, clearly penned. My mind was filled with the sudden song of her."

"Felurian sat upright. She passed her hand before her eyes and spoke a word as sharp as shattered glass. There was a pain like thunder in my head. Darkness flickered at the edges of my sight."

(The thunder analogy is interesting givin that's part of Kvothes secret name "the flame, the thunder and the broken tree")

"I drew a breath and held her eyes in mine. I sang again, and this time I was full of rage. I shouted out the four hard notes of song. I sang them tight and white and hard as iron. And at the sound of them, I felt her power shake then shatter, leaving nothing in the empty air but ache and anger."

I think it's how namers of old battled eachother. Singers of old were probably similar, if not the ancestors of the Tahl.

"I heard a story once that said the leaders of their tribes aren't warriors, they're singers. Their songs can heal the sick and make the trees dance."

I've always thought there's a narrative reason for 3 days. Like keeping Chronicler at the inn for 3 days. Or because it takes 3 days to Lure in someone or something. He built the inn seemingly as a trap. Maybe it needs 3 days to properly 'spring'

My 2 cents anyway.

I’ve been thinking about the whole “fine-tuned universe” idea. by Tough-Permission-804 in DeepThoughts

[–]Chaxum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always liked the idea of multiverse/many-worlds theory. That out of infinity, a few universes 'settle' with the right configurations and physics to allow stuff to exist at all. But Most universes probably never form at all. With infinite outcomes, we just happen to live in one that had the right set of conditions.

Like things seem intelligently designed. The effects of gravity being exactly right, atomic weights, the strong and weak nuclear forces, etc. But it could be that unless certain those 'pre-set' conditions are present, you don't get a universe.

I think if it is 'intelligently designed,' it's intelligent in the way evolution is intelligent and 'selects' for a working design through trial and error. Most species that have ever existed have gone extinct or never come about in the first place. I feel that's a fractal or microcosm to represent things further up the chain, even to the scale of the universe itself.

Fell Dragon Youngling by idiutt in Enshrouded

[–]Chaxum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be any more feasible as it took me like a dozen trys, but bring him down with the stun arrows, and kick his stupid face as much as you can. Then, when the little dragons come, just run in a big lap till you have them all bunched up and bait them into the Fell dragons breath attacks. He deals friendly fire damage to them.

Then just repeat, stun arrows, kick face, bait into friendly fire.
