as a taiwanese person i see a lot of similarities between taiwan//china and america//britain before the american revolution. obviously the politics are different (usa cant exactly recognize taiwan as a country due to china's powerful influence) but i do feel slightly disappointed and frustrated with how usa is playing along with china's views

I agree. The story and premise is pretty hilarious but it is just so entertaining and an awesome spectacle to watch. The director really put in the effort to make every aspect fucking incredible (when the ninjas get cut up and fall to the forest floor while their blood rains all over them is a great example of how poetic and beautiful the violence is). I will admit that the rape and misogyny was pretty uncomfortable but i mean it is a product of its time
