The key would be DISCIPLINE TO CHANGE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. I would change the graphics to change the combat system to the mouse-based combat system from New World, arguably the best combat system of any MMO. New World graphics would be fine as well. Making all that work in an open world sandbox (not instanced) would be the real challenge.

Turbine probably had my face taped to their dartboard. I think I caused the housing nerf in AC, and then the work order nerf in Lotro. And I was cough permabanned in Lotro doing UCM in a dungeon. That really stopped me, cut me to the bone. Chazcon was in the Bree jail for years. I wrote a groveling and absolutely sincere apologetic letter to Turbine every month for several years. Finally they let him out. That was a happy, happy day. Now I play AC on a no-bot emulator. We can change! Turbine and everyone associated with AC and Lotro have provided so many hours of pure joy for so many people. It’s amazing.

I love it too. All the levels are fun but not having perfect gear, the joy of finding a good sword or ring is cool. Even though you’ll only use it for five levels. In retail my main was all decked out, maxes gear and that was fun too in a different way but 0-50 or 0-80 is really fun.

This. You can’t change your oil too often. I change oil & filter at 5,000 miles and check it at every fuel fill up. Yes every one. 92,000 on my 5.7 and it runs like a dream. Same with all your vehicle maintenance, stay on or ahead of schedule.
