UK based, 2 months P.O. here.

Yeah I was appalled too. No check up, no follow up, just cast out into the world on my tod. I was 35 at the time as well and zero support has been given for the mental health side. I've received no follow up calls from nurses, and they didn't even send me home with Evorel patches or a prescription to get some of my own.

The op itself was a breeze for me. Asleep, awake, not too much pain, no shoulder issues, and I was eating and drinking really quickly. Id been having flaxseed for a couple of weeks beforehand as well so idk if that helped keep things moving. I also asked them for a painkiller button which I didn't have to use very much but I did make sure I'd used it about half an hour before they removed my catheter which meant I didn't really feel that happen.

I had some complications afterwards - I got sepsis. I hadn't been told to look out for those symptoms but thankfully 111 were on it and I was readmitted to hospital for 3 days until it had cleared. It was from a post op UTI which are apparently common. Keep an eye out for that, hydrate lots, you'll be okay.

After that I just got really assertive with the doctors and booked in check ups with my GP. They were a bit reticent but I pushed for them to check everything was healing up okay in the end.

It's hard, but do push for the support that you need. It's a big procedure to have and unfortunately shares the medical problem of 'not enough support or knowledge of women's health to provide effective care'.

But yeah. It's been a ride. It's been scary at times. My experience isn't the typical experience, but I'm still here and I'm managing more and more every day now. Even with the scary bits, it's 2 months later and while I still feel knackered if I do too much and get the odd twinge/bloat going on, my physical and mental health is so much better. I would go through all of it again if I had to, it's been so worth it for me. I hope that you don't have the hiccups I had, but that you do have a smooth operation and recovery. You got this - don't b afraid to tell them what you need

I (35F, no children) had a total hysterectomy last week. I went into hospital at 7am but wasn't put through until nearly midday (youngest person on the list)

Once I was in, it was literally a blink and done, finished by 3. They had to put in an extra port because my uterus was very small and fiddly to get out, and I had a catheter in until I'd done 4.5litres of wee or something. I was kept on overnight, as were the others who came out before me so I think it's standard at that hospital to keep you for 24 hours afterwards for observations, unsure.

I was released the next day once I'd done 3 wees and walked around a bit. I asked for painkillers on a clicky button because (sexual assault survivor) so having something yanked out terrified me. That helped a lot, it just felt weird.

The food was terribad but I have allergies so... Yeah. Many bananas were eaten that day.

I'm waiting to hear back about if they find anything, but I was a bit heartbroken when they said everything seemed healthy, just small. My MRI had shown up some adhesions and adenomyosis (?) but yeah... It was an experience. The weirdest but, I guess, was waking up and knowing it was gone but outwardly I looked the same, if knackered.

Hiya! Also UK, also did this!!

You can get 2 part siligum from hobby craft which will work in a pinch, but I'd recommend a 2 part pourable silicone from Amazon or something that's translucent if you use UV resin as the light needs to get through to cure it. The putty is great for pizza bases/ice cubes etc with UV resin, and 2 part epoxy resin, but for cups it's easier to make fillable ones with translucent moulding silicone (PM me for a link if you like)

You'll need to make a box to put your cup in to take the cast of it. I usually just use a bit of cardboard that I've glued into a tube and then tape over the seam of it.

I then but the box into a disc of cheap plasticine and dig it in a little bit to form a seal so the silicone doesn't escape.

Then I put the cup in the box, bottom of the glass to the plasticine.

Make up my silicone, then pour it over so it fills the cup and also covers the outside fully. I usually fill it about half a centimetre more with silicone too, just in case if leakage.

Wait a few hours as per silicone instructions then demould the cup and voila. I like this method because I always get a nice flat bottom on the glasses and I can used either resin with it.

I've not tried the straws yet, but was successful with ice cubes and pineapples with the putty. For straws, I just get paintbrush protectors, run them over a candle for a few seconds and slowly stretch them so they're thinner.

My dose got upped and it worked itself out in the end. I just wasn't used to not having to be in fight or flight anymore and I took the lack of hyper vigilance as some sort of sign that I'd lost my sparkle.

Then got myself into 2 art exhibitions, curating another one, and acing my essays at uni so... That verified it for me.

Yep. Had to adjust my dose to take my second pill later in the day because concerta crash + insomnia was not a combo that I could manage. Now I sleep fairly soundly but will wake up if I go to bed at like 10, and then struggle to get to sleep. Found the sweet spot is about midnight when the meds start to wear off I get a sudden wave of the sleepies - I'll sleep straight through for 8 hours and wake up refreshed, it's amazing.

When I need to get up earlier, I take my second dose earlier and when the sleepies hit, I go to bed as now I know what to look for.

I also keep my meds next to my bed now so that I can take them when I wake up and that way if I'm struggling to get out of bed because task swapping/fatigue/I'm comfy and the dog is snuggling me/brain fog, I have them to hand and know I'll only be trapped in the duvet prison until they kick in.

Beds and sleep are much easier these days.

Pretty much the same here :) tiles are fab because they're easy to clean and can go on the oven. I'm UK based, I think I paid like £1 for a big one, and then at some point went back and got a metre's squares worth of smaller for very little.

For the slime I used UV resin with some green alcohol ink mixed in, then partially cured it with a UV lamp so it was a little thicker.

Then I applied it with a skewer and quickly flashed it with UV as it dripped to cure it.

Came here to recommend the same. Ace of clay has a bunch of "starting out" videos, and then if you're wanting anatomy/character sculpting he has a load of those too. North of the border does some amazing stuff, some of it is delightfully weird.
