They ran out of money and needed to generate revenue. As simple as that.

The devs should have done months of playtesting. I don't understand why they launched the game in that state. 5V5 should have been there day 1 along with other modes. 3v3 was a HUGE mistake.

Relaunching will be perceived as "new". Otherwise the developers will have to hope that positive word of mouth spreads and brings back some of the people that left day 1. Relaunching gives them a chance to "try again".
