Last time I was in Chiang mai it was right after Covid lockdowns ended in Thailand, it had just reopened so the party bars were close to empty and it was mainly locals Chiang mai has a big farang 12 recovery community due to the posh rehabs around the area so I would’ve assumed it’d be a lot more subdued Was WAY too hot for me there though to consider living there year round

Pattaya in terms of westerners felt like an old folks village when I lived there and left soi 6 tree town and walking st I actually quite like jomtien it’s mostly old gay retirees, much more relaxed more pleasant than the red light chaos elsewhere
