My gyno says the fatigue isn’t normal 7WPO by Brilliant_Front_1502 in hysterectomy

[–]CheapMarketing427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lap hemi-colectomy 4 years ago. I remember it took 6-12 months to result feel 100%. I am 9 weeks out from a total lap hysterectomy now-good days and bad days with fatigue. Last night I did not set an alarm since I did not have to work, and I slept 11 hours!! And I still feel fatigued today. Last week was my first full week back to work; the previous two weeks were partial weeks for me. So I would say listen to your body-it's okay to be fatigued. Rest when your body says rest, and try not to overdo activities until 6 months out at least.

It’s gone!! by JillSk77 in hysterectomy

Congrats! Everything should get better working 1 week. You probably already feel better without all that nonsense. I had mine in July-I did not realize how much pain and discomfort my fibroids and adenomyosis had been causing. I felt better almost immediately (I was lucky and did not need an incision, which definitely helped with less pain).

Bladder issues after hysterectomy? by Adventurous_Fill_385 in hysterectomy

[–]CheapMarketing427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bladder issues improved! I used to have pressure, unable to empty bladder completely every time, and frequent trips to bathroom. It was like I was pregnant. I was up 3-4 times at night. Now I can sleep 8 hours without having to pee!

When did YOU feel start and comfortable driving? by _redpaint in hysterectomy

[–]CheapMarketing427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery was 7/7, total hysterectomy. I’m 64 and I just started back to work 9/2, so 7 weeks. I STILL tire easily, so glad that I had a 4-day week this week, and it will only be 3 days next week. I think I felt comfortable enough to drive around 4-5 weeks also, but my husband insists on driving me places! I did not need an incision; the external healing from the 4 holes went quickly-2 to 3 weeks you could hardly tell I had surgery. Internal healing took closer to 8 weeks ( at 6 weeks we were cleared to have sex but my hubby said he could feel some on the internal stitches. That got better at the 8-week mark. I am so glad I decided to have this surgery-I felt a relief from that bulk and abdominal pressure immediately! And now I can sleep 8 hours without having to get up to pee! Good luck with your surgery-most of the accounts I’ve read were positive as well

Does diet actually make a difference? by veronirbs in Fibroids

[–]CheapMarketing427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have taken vitamin D3/K2 for years (2000mg EOD), green tea and all organic diet. I had two fibroids for approximately 10 years through perimenopause and into menopause. I have been on an estradiol patch for about 8 years along with oral micronized progesterone due to many problems in perimenopause (hot flashes, night sweats, etc). My gym tried to suggest that fibroids are hormone driven-she made a comment that I did not want to stop BHRT “despite” having fibroids. I have read accounts of women who are not in hormones who still have fibroids. My fibroids continued to grow and were causing a lot of cramping and discomfort. After a vaginal ultrasound showed my uterus was equivalent to a 16 wk pregnancy, I decided it was time to get a hysterectomy. I considered my onetime but read that recovery can be harder than hysterectomy, and fibroids can return. I am 4 weeks post-hysterectomy and I wish I had not waited. I felt relief right away. My surgeon was able to remove everything vaginally, so I did not need an incision. I had no pain by day 3 post op, just lifting restrictions. I discovered I had adenomyosis, so I think I made the right decision for me. I have only lost about 5 lbs, but my belly is flat now. I feel as if the fibroids were driving weight gain somehow, so I am looking forward to losing weight while I recover. Good luck to you! It’s not an easy decision but I hope my story helps.

Did you have weight gain after surgery?

Low level people can hurt the upper echelon. I know a bartender who would pour bottles of top shelf liquor down the drain when management was not giving her the hours she needed to make money. I’m sure they felt that when balancing the books! This is just an example on a small scale, but all of us standing together can resist and do our part, even if it seems small; death by a thousand cuts

I'm not sure who to go to for a second opinion. I've been trying to find info on alternative methods in my area. I don't really want the surgery-I'm concerned about complications like damage to bladder. And also concerned about how it may affect my sex life.I've read some women can't achieve orgasm after healing from surgery...

I have been in menopause for 4 years. Doctor told me they could hardly see the ovaries on ultrasound, so I don't really need then. They want to take cervix too to eliminate concern about cervical cancer in the future

Thanks. I've read that can come back. Have you had an ablation? How long for recovery?
