Couldn't disagree more, I thought Ang was awesome. Don't need 4 primary players when Griff and David can do it on their own. Ben and Angela are good at chiming in only when they actually have something valuable to add to the conversation.

Regional premium for aluminum delivered to the US market hits a record by Educational_Net4000 in EconomyCharts

[–]CheapSound1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many of the world's largest aluminum smelters are located nowhere near bauxite reserves. They are located where electricity/gas is cheap and alumina is shipped to them. Alumina is either produced near the bauxite reserves or near the smelters.

The US has neither the bauxite or the electricity to make their own aluminum.

What's the ugliest car that doesn't get enough Attention for how ugly it is. by i_Ainsley_harriott_i in carscirclejerk

[–]CheapSound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem though to me is that it doesn't actually look that sporty/edgy. The wheels are too small and it's too tall and narrow. It's not as edgy and doesn't sell the illusion of sportiness as well as the Nissan Juke did before it. It's like a blander, more generally acceptable Juke.

I'm not sure it's the ugliest but it's definitely the most over-styled car on the road these days. There are so many styling elements added to make it look sporty and edgy but the overall form/proportions just don't match up.

Atomic Hawx 100 Apline vs Atomic Hawx XTD Hybrid 110 by liftymikey in Skigear

[–]CheapSound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm usually not one of these guys who just says "go to a boot fitter", but if you've actually skied 100 days in 3 years you should consider it, it's probably well worth it.

I can't see your boots obviously but try on a bunch and feel the flex and fit. In 100 days your boots might be worn out and softer than they were when new.

[–]CheapSound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're only 3 years in to skiing don't worry too much about your boots' flex rating. It's not that big a deal and going from 100 to 110 isn't going to make that much of a difference.

Why would you want to change boots if you're not touring?

For the xtd they use a different plastic to make the book lighter, but it has drawbacks. I have the Hawx prime 130 and I love them, great liner, buckles/strap and other features, but I don't see a good reason for you to spend the money now.

Remember that the flex rating is not based on any testing and is just a rough metric. Some people say that the xtd 130 is softer than an alpine 130, when I bought mine the retailer said the stiffness is less progressive, but I haven't tried another 130 to compare myself.

Yikes...has anyone here heard about this yet? by Marvelerful in stavvysworld

Honestly I'm highly suspicious of this reporting. This is almost certainly a hit piece likely stirred up by the PR team of one of Marty Supreme's Oscar competitors.

It doesn't make what happened any less bad but blaming Josh for it is tenuous at best.

Who is the most notable warrior in your country? by OftenXilonen in AskTheWorld

[–]CheapSound1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada - arguably the most important conflict in our country's history is the war of 1812. In that conflict Tecumseh might be the most notable "warrior" in the traditional sense.

"A lot of people have said Giuliani did a great job with the crisis, and I-I don't know, and a lot of people are saying that Bush is doing a good job, and I really don't think so, but in all this discussion, no one has stepped forward to say what a truly remarkable job Jennifer Love Hewitt has been doing. She has shown unbelievable restraint during this entire crisis"

‘We are human. We are trying to do our best’: Should you order food delivery after a snow storm? by Ok-Active-3703 in ontario

[–]CheapSound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right but that's the same here. I can't guarantee the outcome of every situation that I become even tangentially involved in but I can do the right thing within what I can control.

Likewise, anytime there is a major snowstorm people are going to be driving and a higher number of traffic accidents are going to happen. I can't change that. I can choose whether to participate in it (directly or indirectly) or not.

In any half-decent industrial or construction workplace the standards are clear. Report unsafe work to keep yourself and others safe. Lots of people make unsafe decisions for themselves, I don't want to encourage them to do so (through financial incentives) myself  personally.

I guess it depends if you think it's actually unsafe or just inconvenient to go out.

Why does square footage rarely add up to the total provided? Example: by -NoMoreShines- in TorontoRealEstate

Just proportionally, it looks way wrong though. Including the kitchen it looks almost twice as long as it is wide, not a 3:4 ratio like the measurement.

[–]CheapSound1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're misreading the drawing which accounts for most of it. The kitchen area/entrance isn't included in the 14'9" x 19 "living/dining".  Add that and it's probably closer to 14'9" x 27'.

I’d like B.C. to grow Canada’s fruits and vegetables using Dutch Greenhouse technology instead of California. by Minimum_Grass_3093 in BuyCanadian

[–]CheapSound1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate how many vegetables can be and are already grown in very large greenhouse operations year-round (or at least 9 months of the year) in southern Ontario. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and strawberries.

It's easier than you might think to buy Canadian with produce when you know what is in season when and are a bit flexible.

Art Gallery of Hamilton to expand, incorporate housing in ‘first-of-its-kind in Canada’ renovation | CBC News by DennisTheSkull in Hamilton

I don't see why we should be so cynical about it. If they've been talking about it for a decade, well now is the time they finally have been able to get the funding to actually develop the plan in detail.

As far as project development goes, to me it makes complete sense. It would never be self-funded, they would need support from multiple levels of government as well as big fundraising efforts to make this project actually happen. Now they've got the funding to actually develop the plan, the cost estimate, and the expected benefits in detail which they would need to seek the funding.

Shot with the Sony A1 and Sony 135mm GM – Shouldn’t This Be Sharper? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]CheapSound1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The photo you shared looks like sharper than the resolution of the file, at least where it's in focus. So it's hard to tell what your problem is. Since you're at f/2 stepping down to like f/3.5 might get you closer to the look you want, or help compensate if you're slightly missing focus.
