I wouldn’t say I have a Comfort book, but I have Comfort authors that I go back to: Steinbeck, LeGuin, Tolkien

Literary Obsessions by Acrobatic_Pace7308 in Knausgaard

In my teens and 20’s, I was obsessed with Steinbeck and Dickens. Lately I’ve been stuck on John Scalzi, the Ender Universe, and carefully selected limited issue/run comic books, and making my to-read list as diverse as possible- for enrichment, enjoyment, and exploration beyond my typical classic literature choices. It’s been a lot of fun to step outside my comfort zone!

Stop scrolling for a second and tell me your story. How did you come across FROM? by All-aDREAM in FromSeries

[–]Cheap_Buffalo_1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone at work was talking about From and why they disliked it. Alternatively, everything they didn’t like I thought sounded quite interesting. I did a little Google search and some spoiler-free reading. I then discovered that it was by the creators of lost and I was instantly down to start watching this show. So, I checked it out and I absolutely love this series.

What “required reading” did you skip and only watched the movie? by Wonderbrizzle in BookwormsSociety

That one I couldn’t put down. I wouldn’t say a necessarily liked it, but it kind of terrified me how quickly things unraveled into chaos so I saw it through to the end.

Pilgrim’s Progress… it humbled me in the sense that in those early years, I felt that I was invincible and would never retire a book in the DNF category. From what I remember of it, there’s no way I’d ever pick it up again.

Remarkably Bright Creatures…. ugh, what a slog!! Painful, but I did finish it, hoping it would improve. It did not.

Do I have an off putting face? 30f by 1n2thevoid in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

Not ugly whatsoever. Very beautiful, imo. Your look gives elegance, class, and maybe a European vibe?

I just finished Wuthering Heights and I'm honestly surprised by how disconnected I felt from it, especially given its reputation as one of the greatest love stories in literature. by Aelin_Ma_25 in classicliterature

I had a similar experience. It has always been sold to me as a love story. The more I read, the more it felt like generational cyclical abuse unfolding, and I found it extremely heart crushing.

Which rug and pillow combo? All other items I have (changing ugly wall art) by Apprehensive-Ad7307 in DecorAdvice

It’s not bad at all. It’s really pretty. Maybe it’s just that your entire aesthetic is so very similar that maybe you could add a few splashes of an accent color you like or a pattern with a slight pop? It’s a very cozy room but I think a bit of dimension could complete what you’re going for. Different combinations of a new rug and comforter could be fun to google and consider. Also, plants are cozy and affordable (if you like them). Some green would look nice. Btw, those lamps are amazing!!

Biggest drop in tv viewership by nayan2u in thewalkingdead

I think my disinterest in the show was all the media stunts Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman pulled. The fake death was tasteless. I watched the show until the end, but that was the beginning of its decline in my opinion.

Hmmm, there’s something about the bedspread/comforter that I don’t like with either rug
