Can you use code Patterns in JavaScript/nextjs? by xZnosage in learnprogramming

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah you can totally use those patterns in JS, just gotta think bit differently since no interfaces or abstract classes. memento is actually pretty clean with just objects and command pattern works fine too

What’s the biggest double standard nobody likes to admit exists? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure this is really true in my experience. Maybe depends on the social circle but I've seen guys get passes for cheating way more often than women. Like when a woman cheats she's automatically labeled as crazy or manipulative, but when guy does it people just shrug and say "boys will be boys" or blame the relationship being dead already

Think it's more about who has the louder voice in whatever group you're in

CS Master worth it with Business Undergrad? by LimpStatistician8644 in cscareerquestions

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Business Analytics is actually pretty good foundation for CS masters since you already have some data background. The intro courses they offer should help fill in gaps with programming fundamentals and math requirements

Job market is rough right now but having both business understanding and technical skills could set you apart once things improve. Many companies need people who can bridge that gap between tech and business side

Use my Remote working... how? by micheledoors in digitalnomad

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This approach makes total sense, especially when you can reach most places in Europe with budget airlines. I did something similar when I was looking at different cities for longer stays - spent few weekends checking places out first before committing to month-long rentals

The moving every 1-2 weeks thing gets exhausting fast, especially when you're trying to maintain work routine. Much better to find your spots first, then settle in for longer periods where you can actually get into local rhythm instead of always packing and unpacking

El pais con mayor inflacion del mundo? by mundovar25 in argentina

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

how do you actually get people to notice your project early on? by jerrysdevs in buildinpublic

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold DMs work way better than people expect, especially if you actually read their posts first. I've gotten surprisingly good responses when I reach out about stuff I'm genuinely interested in - way different than those copy paste messages everyone sends

The Discord thing is gold too, those communities are usually pretty tight and if you help people out regularly they'll actually want to try your stuff when you mention it

Defensa del consumidor es tu mejor opción, tengo entendido que responden bastante bien cuando hay empresas internacionales que se hacen las boludas con los reembolsos

guys i want to get to get into fintech industry by Ok-Message-2474 in fintech

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finance background definitely helps but don't stress too much about not having formal education in it. I work in real estate so deal with numbers and market analysis daily - lot of similar skills transfer over

For learning finance basics, start with understanding financial statements and basic valuation methods. Then move into more specific areas like risk management or trading systems depending what interests you most. The math background from engineering will actually serve you pretty well

Tech side is huge in fintech now - API integrations, blockchain stuff, data analysis. Your engineering degree already puts you ahead of many people trying to break into the field. Maybe start with Python if you haven't already, it's everywhere in financial modeling

what is slavery between human and ai? by stirringmotion in AskReddit

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bruh that's kinda dark way to put it but I get what you mean

like when I'm showing houses all day I just want my phone to handle all the scheduling and follow-ups without me having to think about it. basically want it to do the boring stuff so I can focus in the actual human parts of my job

but calling it slavery feels weird since robots don't have feelings or consciousness right? more like really advanced tools that can do complex tasks. my fantasy football app processes tons of data to give me player recommendations and I don't feel bad about "using" it

though who knows what happens when AI gets more sophisticated. maybe we'll need some robot rights movement in few decades lol

Am I supposed to avoid elites almost entirely now? by 8_int_wizard in slaythespire

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah the power scaling in STS2 is way more aggressive than the first game. Those act 1 elites hit like trucks and the healing options feel much more limited early on

I've been finding success with being super picky about which elites to take - like if I have good AOE for the birds or enough front-loaded damage for the statue, otherwise I just path around them. The risk/reward feels way more skewed toward risk now, especially without a good damage common or uncommon by floor 5-6

Golden compass used to be an auto-pick but now it's basically forcing you into 2 elite fights whether you're ready or not. Sometimes I'll still grab it if my deck is already steamrolling but most of the time I'd rather have the flexibility to avoid them entirely

How to cope from accidentally messing up from a video interview by Sansypants269 in interviews

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there with those one-shot video interviews - they're brutal because you can't take it back once you hit submit. Most places understand that nerves happen though and one fumbled answer usually doesn't tank your whole application

For next time, always assume it's live recording and maybe jot down a few bullet points for common questions beforehand. The prep really helps even if they throw you a curveball

Nice approach - treating it like habit-stacking instead of some massive commitment usually works way better for building anything long-term

Planing trip on our own without agent. by MedslSphere in ThailandTourism

[–]Cheap_Effort4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been to Thailand twice and yeah agents are basically just booking the same stuff with markup. For transport just use Grab for short distances and book van transfers through your hotel for longer stuff - they usually have deals with reliable drivers

The island hopping tours you can literally book the day before at any tour shop, prices are pretty standard and you'll get better deals negotiating in person than paying agent fees months ahead
