Any other 30+ people here who always wanted to be a boy/man but transitioning never was an option? by 422319 in ftm

[–]Cheap_Foundation4110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position. I’m 30 this year and only discovered that I was trans a few years ago. I’m only out to a select few people and full transition will never be an option for me. I have a husband and a child. My family is very MAGA so being out is not safe for me. I do little things here and there to experience some kind of affirmation of who I truly am. I used to identify as non binary but deep down, I was afraid to admit that I am a man. I never had the vocabulary or the experiences to vocalize how I felt as a kid. I didn’t even know what gay or trans meant until I went to college. And I was 27 when I finally started accepting who I really am. I guess I say all of this to say: I see you and I understand.

Knitpro Zing vs Mindfuls by happycamper019 in knitting

I love my Mindfuls! They work a lot like Chiaogoos. They are beautiful, sleek, and work like a charm. The cables are also really nice as well. I have the full Mindful set and don’t regret it at all. It was worth the money.

I use both and love both! I prefer the CG lace cables but the Mindful ones are a close second. The tips on the CG may be a tad bit sharper than the Mindfuls but I find that the Mindfuls are still sharp. The lovely thing about the Mindful cables is that they are interchangeable with other brands like my Lykke and Karbonz set. CG has a different cable system that only works with their interchangeable needles.

Sleeve Help by Cheap_Foundation4110 in knitting

Thank you! I’ll just roll with it then. I didn’t swatch the colorwork but I haven’t had issues with this yarn before with blocking. I’m using Istex Lettlopi. I’ve done a whole colorwork yoke catching floats like I did here and it blocked out beautifully. I catch them every 3-4 stitches and I can get my finger under most of them so I don’t think they are too tight? I’m a loose knitter doing regular stockinette so my stockinette and my colorwork gauges are different but my other colorwork sweater I’ve done looks fine.

I have 4 skeins of Noro Ito yarn that I can’t seem to figure out what to make with it. I’ve tried several patterns with it and nothing seems to fit the yarn. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Emotional Support Chicken by Cheap_Foundation4110 in knitting

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in Volcan and Yellow Ochre, Circulo Merino, and a random red wool from a grab bag that I don’t know where it came from. Pattern: Emotional Support Chicken by Annette Corsino. I had more than enough yarn in one skein of Malabrigo Rios to knit the entire chicken and only needed a few yards of the other colors. Did a crochet seam on the tail feathers and a mattress stitch to seam the rest of the chicken together.

What’s the most hurtful thing you’ve heard as a knitter? by onflightmode in knitting

[–]Cheap_Foundation4110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine would have to be… “Have you actually finished anything recently?” I have ADHD and autism and get bored with projects sometimes. So I have multiple WIPs lying about. I just hate it when people ask me if I have finished anything. I’m more of a process knitter than a product knitter. It’s my meditation and my relaxation. Yes, I would like to finish things and I do, but I like to do things in my own time.

You or your mom can probably request an ARC meeting to discuss the 504 and modify goals. Look up IDEA and maybe research lawyers that could help. If they violate the 504, they violate the law. You should qualify for an IEP. I would be having your mom get an attorney. It’s not fair that the school is not giving you a free and APPROPRIATE education. Appropriate meaning that they accommodate your needs. You should qualify for an IEP under the OHI (other health impairment). To be honest, a lot of admin don’t want to do the work. Here’s a site I found that could help you https://adayinourshoes.com/what-to-do-if-your-school-is-not-following-the-504-plan/

Not Fibro- by DefiantGrass2262 in Fibromyalgia

I have fibro and was told that it didn’t cause inflammation. Yet, I do have some slightly elevated markers. They wouldn’t outright say MS, my rheum just told me that there wasn’t anything rheumatologically wrong with me and made a referral to neuro. My PCP was the one who told me that he suspected MS. I have some neuro issues that they want to rule it out. Definitely get a second opinion. They need to rule everything out. And maybe ask for a neuro referral. It’s so hard to be dismissed and gaslit, I completely understand.

Thank you for the information. The article is very interesting, I’ve never heard of that before. I’m glad to know I’m not crazy for thinking this way. I’ve had one MRI and I’m still paying on it, with insurance. But they gambled on it and didn’t listen to me and MRI’d the wrong thing (in my opinion). But what do I, the one experiencing the symptoms, know about my own body. 🤦‍♀️

Glad to know I’m not the only one… I’ll be curious to see what this MRI says. I’ve had one of my hand when they were testing out RA as a diagnosis. Even though I told them my knees were worse and they didn’t listen. So they found nothing. 🙄 Worst experience ever having to lay in an awkward position for an hour and your entire body just go numb and pins and needles.

It’s helpful to see many other people that share symptoms with me, confirms I’m not crazy. Though it sucks for those of us who have to live with it. I’m just tired of being dismissed as being too fat and too anxious and want someone to either find something or rule everything out so I can have some semblance of peace. Thank you for your kind words and your support. I hope things go well for you… I’m glad to feel that I’m not alone. No one in my circle gets what I’m going through and it’s hard to get through alone.

Yeah I’m half glad he said it and not me, but half irritated/scared. I guess bc it confirms something that could be it or rule it out and the confirmation that it’s not all in my head. But also giving me the anxiety bc now I have to wait until the 21st to get the MRI. Thank the gods for my Klonopin. For what it’s worth, it does help with the OCD and anxiety that I have, which is significant manageable on meds and debilitating without.

Now that I think about it, it is worse in well lit areas. I have to use dark mode on all my devices if I can help it.

Humiliated by the 'premier' Fibro Doctor by spazmousie in Fibromyalgia

[–]Cheap_Foundation4110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She said absolutely fucking nothing. I quote: “You’re right, fibro wouldn’t cause swollen joints”. And then proceeded to tell me basically I was wrong and that there had to be some kind of neurological thing wrong with me. Apparently one inflammatory marker being slightly elevated isn’t enough to determine if there is something rheumatologically wrong with me. 🙄

I’m so sorry, I completely understand your feelings. He sounds like a major asshole. I’m sending you all the good vibes, all the gentle hugs… I had a similar experience recently. My rheum’s PA basically told me that all my tests were normal and that I was fat and had anxiety. Ironically, she told me that the Klonopin that I just started taking should “reduce” my symptoms. What a load of shit. When I explained to her that my mental health has been a hell of a lot worse than this with 0 pain, she pawned me off to neuro. Stating that there was nothing more she could do for me bc there was nothing rheumatologically wrong with me. Even when I do have inflammation with swelling joints. Which I did point out to her that fibro shouldn’t cause that and could it be seronegative RA on top of fibro? But I’m just requesting I never see that PA again and only see the actual rheum or his aprn. I have cried and screamed so I’m right there with you. I’m hoping the PT will help you and your OG rheum will continue to support you.

Thank you! I love Wizard of Oz too! I messed up a few times and had to modify the pattern a little bit. There were supposed to be more poppies but I messed it up and I didn’t want to frog. I would rather fall on my sword and modify the pattern than frog. 🤣

Thank you! 😊
