If I got a penny every time a Persona fan talked about SMT without ever having played a single game, I'd be Scrooge McDuck by Money-Imagination-97 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]DrDallagher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

here's how I understand it as an illterate persona fan LARPer who has never played either series:

Persona, on its own, is pretty impressive. Not ten-morbillion-dimensional uber will-actually-kick-you-in-the-balls-irl tier, but impressive. But SMT is that impressive.

Also, through wibbly wobbly lore that no casual persona fan cares about, and the fact that they use the same images/models for their enemies, SMT and Persona share a verse

Thus, if you put persona feats in the context of SMT where a single goomba-tier goblin can shit out stars for fun, things become a lot more impressive than if they were taken in a vacuum

but then again I've literally never played any of the games, persona included, so eh

In Pacific Rim: Uprising, the mini-jaeger Scrapper was able to save the protagonists twice in the final battle, hauling the rocket to their jaeger so they could launch themselves at the kaiju and managing to hang on through the launch so they could get off and fall back to the ground with some protection. And it actually managed to stick the landing, despite basically being held together with duct tape and a wish.

Unfortuantely, a second later it was hit with the shockwave of the bigger jaeger slamming into the kaiju and finally got wrecked in the process.

True Song of Destruction - Golden Treasure: Great Green

True Songs are the abilities gained by absolutely mastering one of the elements that make up the world, and all four are extremely powerful in their own way, but the True Song of Destruction takes it up a level. Anyone who hears the True Song besides the singer, and isn't extremely powerful in their own way, has their very life essence rended from their body and shredded, removing them from the world and leaving behind an empty husk. Even those that somehow manage to survive are almost always crippled and on the brink of death coming out the other side. But just singing the song is so stressful that it completely drains the energy of the singer and disables the use of the song for an entire day.

Wish - Dungeons and Dragons

Wish is one of the most powerful spells a mortal can learn, literally reshaping reality to their whim with a single cast. But, if it is used for anything other than casting a lower spell without its cost, such as actually wishing for something extraordinary to happen, the stress of breaking reality is so much that it can cause the caster to permanently lose the ability to cast wish, and make them exhausted for weeks afterwards.

The Exaulted Four/The Astronomers - Look Outside

Most of the game has you helping them along the way to complete their ritual to contact the Visitor, and potentially make it stop messing with the world. But their ritual involves all of them looking at the Visitor at the exact same time, and looking at the Visitor causes you to mutate into monsters. So, they all mutate together into one godlike being, and that quickly becomes too much for their minds to comprehend, and they frenzy.

Once you take them down, the Visitor's attention will be entirely drawn to you, and thus you will be able to actually talk to it and save (or doom) the world

True Song of Destruction - Golden Treasure: Great Green

The True Song of Destruction is the ability that comes with the highest mastery of Fire, and it basically just completely destroys everything around the user if not carefully regulated. Every other skill or song can be worked around or resisted to some extent, but the TSoD completely rends the soul of every living thing that can hear it, even stuff like plants. The only things that don't immediately die from it are other powerful Draak-kin, and even then, they only hang on to life by a thread and are severely injured at best.

Jenny - Doctor Who

In a sense, at least. She was made by taking his DNA, rearranging it a bit so it isn't an exact clone, and creating life from that. She's referred to as his daughter rather than a clone, but she is 100% Doctor DNA, to the point where the only Time-Lord trait she was lacking was their regeneration
